Do you really believe that what happened here was not done on consultation with Gorton & JD?

I agree that this appears to be poor asset management, but we have in idea of what the true story is. And I suggest we let the information come out first.

This is not on Quinn. Whatever happened, starred at the top with JD. Whatever occurred was enough for JD & Gorton to act quickly. And it has nothing to do with his political views.
I don’t disagree, but the constant blown leads, slow starts, early goals allowEd, goals allowed at end of periods, lack of fight, etc. That’s not on the coach or leadership core? Good teams with good leadership cores don’t do this stuff consistently, and then this would be the cherry on top.

I disagree. The guy has had trouble at every stop. That he proved to be a problem here, I don't think is a particularly serious indictment of the coach. I'd say the front office is more to fault. This is obviously a "last straw" thing and they kept him around knowing the potential dangers.

Its not just this one issue though.

Quinn has mishandled DeAngelo from the start of the season. But its that on top of all the other bull shit that he's pulled this year. If there is a "last straw" angle with DeAngelo (and you're probably right on this) there should be one with Quinn too.

FO wears the blame for not pushing harder to move him during the off season, Quinn gets it for throwing fuel onto the flames this season.

FO needs to tread realllly carefully now. It's not like he was the lone problem with the room bogging things down ala Dubois in Columbus. You have a HC who is clearly in over his head right now and is not equipped to handle anything the right way. If you let it fester, you're basically not only going to be punting the season away, but creating rifts with certain players.

Look, Tony (as a teen) had some issues in juniors which led to some concerns about him.

Tampa took him at #19, he had an amazing, historic year in juniors, and then put up a bunch of points as an AHL rookie. All is well? Evidently not as they trade him for the #37 after one pro season (Hajek, go figure).

Then he's in Arizona where they're trying to build a team and a culture. He's again very productive in the AHL but still finds himself getting scratched at both the AHL and NHL levels. Arizona moves on after a year.

He comes here, doesn't really ingratiate himself to AV despite his promise. Has issues right off the bat with Quinn for a number of reasons (even if people didn't like those reasons). Does his social media thing which draws negative attention. Now he's waived after having an awesome breakout last year.

There's an issue with this player. Maybe we should have cut bait sooner. Maybe we should have never pursued him. Maybe the coach and FO should have handled it better. And yet...the player himself is still ultimately responsible.
At some point he is the person he is and the person he is burns bridges at every single opportunity

The Rangers HAVE been trying to trade him. @Edge said he was offered in a package for Dubois.

There's obviously a pattern with this guy wearing out his welcome with teams. It happened in the Lightning organization, it happened in Arizona and now it happened with the Rangers. After a while you have to stop blaming it on the organization and realize Tony bears some of the responsibility for when things don't work out.

the only teams who could claim, without high-speed Cap gymnastics, are LA, Ott, NJD and DRW

I expect he clears, and then gets traded w retention,
for someone's challenge, or extra, or mid-level pick(s)

I think if DQ had a positive environment in the locker room this wouldn't have happened. Our front office has not been really on point with our D-men (except the Fox deal which was sweet honey). Pionk, Graves, Trouba, JJ, Tony D, Smith

That being said I'd love to know exactly what happened. And I'd love to thank whatever player stood up for George.

Not like our goaltending has been great but it's not acceptable to go at the guys who eat rubber all night long. Any team I've been on you leave the goalies alone.

He's the coach. He's responsible for having the room in order. He very obviously does not.
This is pretending that waiving of a 25 years old RD who was trending to 60 points, and was just signed to a 2 year deal, came at a whim from the coach. There is no chance that a) Gorton & JD were not consulted snd in agreement b) the move may well have been initiated by JD

I'm going to wait to give an opinion until the Rangers speak to the media.

Going to be pretty tough to slide under the rug waiving a caliber of player like TDA.
"It was a decision that Jeff and JD made after talking to the staff, and we will leave it at that. We are going to try Jack on PP1, see if that can get his groin going."

At one point can we move our fingers away from Quinn to Gorton? Brendan Smith deal, Jack Johnson, Trouba trade and extension, DeAngelo extension. This guy can’t evaluate defense.

We traded Stepan after giving hima HORRIFIC contract.

Got back Lias and ADA.

I am beyond unenthusiastic about this guys ability to build a team, hire personnel and evaluate talent. Whether it's in FA, long term cap management, player development, personnel hirings, use of picks or player re-signings it doesn't matter.

Across the board he has monumental failures occurring at a rate that should be alarming to every NYR fan

The only thing I can say is that the fact he was benched earlier this season definitely has something to do with this.

Just reading through the rest of the thread and burst out laughing at Georgiev (maintenance)

Like he's pulling into a goalie mechanics shop or something

"Alright, what do we have here?"

"Oh...oh...oh my God. I haven't seen a 5 hole this leaky since the retirement parade through Marty Biron's legs"

I mean... @BBKers, at least one verified Twitter account, and a host of other non verified but Ranger related twitter accounts have said there was a fight.

It's pretty clear there was a fight.

I don’t disagree, but the constant blown leads, slow starts, early goals allowEd, goals allowed at end of periods, lack of fight, etc. That’s not on the coach or leadership core? Good teams with good leadership cores don’t do this stuff consistently, and then this would be the cherry on top.
That is a different discussion. Want to talk about that? Fine. Want to talk about the waiving of DeAngelo and possible reasoning? Fine. But those are two different conversations.

I wouldn’t say there were reports that he’s been a cancer here, but the past is well documented.

I’ve seen “he’s very well liked in the locker room” a lot the past year, but as far as I can tell it’s really just a claim based off of his friendship with Strome and Lemieux.

I think back to the sickest guy in the league video. Jimmy Vesey looked like he couldn’t wait for the guy to get out of his face.
Yea people were laughing like it was great where I saw a cringe machine being avoided by some of his teammates like he was Chernobyl
