Nils may never play a second for this team...

I think its 100 times more plausible DeAngelo doesn't remain a Ranger past the trade deadline. I give it 80%-20% odds he's gone.

do you see the Rangers trading him or never able to sign him?

Trade.

I think his fate here was sealed the second they drafted Schneider. It's clear that they want a pretty big blue line. Fox is our resident smurf and Nils doesn't have a prayer at ousting him.

Colorado will be an interesting case study over the next few seasons, but the teams that have won recently have all had pretty big defensemen.

Not a betting man myself, but if i were, I'd take those odds.

I don't think he gets moved until the off season and more likely at the draft

IMO it would be a potential tragedy to trade Nils before we know what he can do at the NHL level.

If he ends up being part of a big package for Eichel, then so be it, but I hope they arent actively shopping him.

I do. It think they are actively shopping anyone. But in reading the tea leaves , one can surmise some things.

Not sure where better place is to toss this... kicking things around in my head.

If (huge if, just thinking here) there were a trade with Vegas for Tony D.. what are the odds you could see a Tony D + Lindgren for Theodore + 3rd Round Pick, or something along those lines? Maybe @Edge or @BBKers one of you guys would know based on things you've heard if that's anywhere close to the realm of possibility.

My gut would say because of Theodore absolutely not, but maybe with the addition of Pietrangelo they'd be willing to do a 2 for 1 deal to add depth to the blue line now. I think the value is even on the surface but I feel like Rangers would have to pay more in this situation.

I feel like a more logical deal would have been (or will be) one where it's defense for forward, maybe you'd get a deal with Glass or Krebs more likely. Frees Rangers of some salary and adds more potential depth to the pool of guys to fill in cheap and effective production in the next years window here. I'd love to sneak Tuch out of there if they got an NHL-ready forward but that doesn't seem like a deal they'd be inspired to make and leaves us needing to deal from depth somewhere else to make another move. Not horrible, not ideal...

I loved the pick. Saw the high end of his potential being real early. Was at a point for a while where I felt he was pretty much untouchable... more recently in my head I was willing to see him go in any deal. We're truly going to have to sacrifice 1-3 really good pieces of what were looking at now, and hope that guys like Schnieder/Berard and who we pick going forward follow suit in keeping the farm strong. So I got okay with the idea of dealing him, figuring it's in a bigger trade anyways.

More recently though, I'm back to a point where I don't see how they can't bring this guy in and give him time on his ELC to make an impact. I mean, I think he's going to be a very very legitimate Top 3 D on a good team in this league... if that's not here okay, but lets reap some of the rewards and let him boost his value first.

Not to mention players contributing on ELCs is worth its weight in gold in a competitive window

Yeah. We can wait until after the expansion draft for most moves. We can protect TDA and Georgiev, and we're only "risking" losing a Gauthier, Howden, or Strome from the forward group.

We could then move Tony and/or Georgie for fair value at the draft like you said, or around FA day, or even at the following TDL. I'd take 90/10 that Tony's gone by trade deadline NEXT year, tho.

Theodore is looking like the next Josi, he's completely untouchable in Vegas. And with him and Peter Angelo, they have zero need to TDA. You need to look at a team that really lacks a good PP QB or OFD like Anaheim or Calgary or even Florida once they get rid of Yandle

It's not how I'd like it to end, but he'd be an excellent fit in Edmonton once Barrie's contract expires at season's end. DeAngelo for Bear could make sense on the ice, but I doubt Ken Holland would want to take the chance.

That's the tough bit. There can only be a handful of ownership groups/G.M.s who are even willing to entertain the PR risk of being the last NHL stop on his inevitable road to Kontinental League stardom.

Would hate it.

Wait. He’s a psycho path? Really? Perhaps the psychosis lies with characterizing one as such because he’s views diverge with yours?

Disagreeing with ones views does t make you a jerk. Believing that all views are wrong if they diverge with yours, however does.

Perhaps you should ask the hospital workers if they think that Tony is a jerk. Guaranteed they don’t as he has done more for them than then the so-called non-jerks have.

Takes like the one you responded to are how we know that it’s more than just “he’s a loudmouth.”

I'm sorry what?

I work in a hospital. What exactly has Tony D'Angelo done for hospital workers that I am unaware of? What hospital?

It's one thing to have divergent views. When you are a racist and a bigot and you expect people to respect your opinion in a "free" country you are downright delusional so you are better off just keeping your big mouth shut or moving away from this area to perhaps a place where your bigoted views will go unchallenged. If you can't handle the heat get the hell out of the kitchen. Most of you might not be from NYC but as someone whose been here my whole life I can tell you this is not a place to run your mouth with bigoted views and expect to come away unscathed.

Yup, DeAngelo doesn’t get any extra criticism for his politics.

If you equate right wing politics with bigotry, go ahead an make that conclusion. I don't know what Tony thinks of taxes or any of that, what I do know is he is a known racist. This is not an opinion. Its fact.
Cause he made a dumb remark when he was a teenager? Not defending that, but people do grow up. I'm sure you never did or said anything dumb when you were 16-17.

DeAngelo is a racist and implying that anyone who supports him is one as well. Feels like this argument has really transcended a hockey one.
