damn, Werenski got a lot of votes. I feel like he is overlooked.
He is such a damn good hockey player. 23 years old with RFA status in 2 years. If there ever was a more perfect target for the Left side it would be him. But I dont see any way, shape, or form the Blue Jackets move him.

I'm not one to usually propose trades but how about: ADA, our 1st round pick (#22), Buchenvich for Werenski?

this does not fix the issue of defense. scoring from the defense was not an issue. this is a lateral move. not a good move. giving up a lot of a same type of defense without the grit and toughness that DeAngelo has. sell high on DeAngelo which I hope they consider, but it would be for a center in my opinion.

I don't see CBJ dealing Werenski unless he indicates in 2022 that he is not interested in signing long term. It's not impossible but it is a ways away...if they NYR sign ADA for more than 2 years (not likely) and repeats his performance then maaaayyybe a deal around those two could be possible in in 2022 offseason or 2023 TDL.

(Unlike the posters about me I however would definitely entertain a trade like this)

Highly unlikely it can be made but it solves our 1LHD problem in a big way with a 23 years star who would pair nicely with Trouba. I love ADA and appreciate his grit too which is in short supply but this trade seems like a no-brainier to me and not an over-payment in any way. Buch is an enigma and it appears we have 4 top line(s) wings without him. 22nd pick is nice but historically is a 50/50 shot at best (even in a strong draft) at getting a good NHL caliber player. If Nils and KAM or Matt R are what they seem to be we could have an awesome young D Corp in two years (like Stars and Lightning), with excellent goal tending and forwards too.

Norris may be the biggest joke award of them all.
For example, how does TonyD get those votes and Fox gets none? How does he get more votes than Heiskanen, Jones?
FWIW, Theodore is the flavor of the day. Everyone is on his bandwagon. I would like to see a few years of consistent play before his coronation.

Because DeAngelo is way better than Fox

Werenski is a great target, yet that seems like way too much from the Rangers and even with that I'm not sure Columbus does it as it would leave them with Murray, Harrington, Gavrikov.

All the same if I were the Rangers I am aiming lower than the level of Werenski, seems like the equivalent of someone like Kevin Klein on LD would suffice until they get better indicators on their LD prospects.

A good chunk of old timey voters look at points and plus/minus and not much else

But the two people that voted for Tony weren't exactly hockey savants. It's not like McKeznie voted for Tony or anything lol

Is this serious? Please tell me you're trolling.
Yes the 4th leading scoring dman in the league is the better player, how is this even a remotely controversial take? Lmao
I get if you think Fox's ceiling is higher (but I strongly disagree) but it's blatantly obvious DeAngelo was the better player this season

if you look at our young core and if they all become NHL players then our D corp will be so deep, we'll have to trade some players away
Robertson, Miller, Jones, Lindgren, Rykov, Hajek, Reunanen on the left
Trouba (not going anywhere), Fox, ADA, Lundkvist on the right

No brainer to trade a 24 year old, 60 point defenseman who plays the right side and a 25 year old 55 point RW (who with some more growth could be 25 goal, 60 point forward) AND a number 1 pick for a defenseman? No thank you. Just DeAngelo for Werenski? Sure. But in no way am i giving up that much in assets to acquire him.

Also, who are the top 4 wings without him? And who are the ones that play the right side?

Nils has not played one second on North American ice, Robertson has not played one second of anywhere besides juniors and Miller has not played one second beyond college. Who knows what they will be like and more importantly where? I do not know much, but I do know that the odds of them replacing what DeAngelo brings offensively is extremely little.

Well, I won't argue with such a ridiculous take. Let's just say we disagree.
One thing is for certain, I can guaranty you that 100% of NHL coaches ride or die with Fox over Tony.

Not that i'm in favor of trading Tony (far from it I'm a big fan) but we have Fox to replace him.

Just using Tony as an example.
I will give them credit for not automatically giving it to Carlson. That guy was objectively awful in his own end.

Fox has great vision, sees the game a couple plays ahead. I think he breaks up plays better than ADA, yet he is not all that strong in his own zone.

ADA however can make zone exits look really easy whether he is skating it or outlet passing. ADA also has shown more on the PP, he has a knack for it and I'm not so sure Fox has it to the same degree. Yet he has more trouble in his own zone than Fox does.

Given either they or Trouba would always be on the ice when the RD was healthy, it seems to me like it comes down to coaching just using 1 over the other 2 more or less depending on the game score leading/tied/trailing and special teams situations.

Fox did not run what was one of the best power plays in the league (and on the Rangers in maybe 20 years) nearly as well and Fox will in all likelihood be a much better rounded defenseman, he is not and has not shown that he is capable of tilting the ice the way that DeAngelo can. So I guess all depends on what your definition "replace" is.
