This is a joke right?

I was already all aboard the "Fire Brunette" train, but now the "Fire Trotz" train is chugging right alongside it.

Glad I wasn't buying tickets to this shit show anyway. Feels bad for the folks who are sinking money into what was already unjustifiable ticket prices.

I want to say "Trotz better have a plan, let's see how this plays out" etc. but right now I really don't want to see his the rest of his plan because the opening act is so horrific. Just hit the reset button and stop the bleeding.

1st rounders gone from 2016-2020 (H/T Adam Vingan):
2016: Fabbro
2017: Tolvanen
2019: Tomasino
2020: Askarov

Clown show organization.

It gets worse if you keep going back. We have practically zero first round capital in the past decade, you cannot build a winning franchise this way.

For me, it is the trend that kills me. That and young players not being given any real chances. They may get a couple minutes here and there with the top 6 but no real runs or time to gel. Novak, Evangalista, Svechkov have all had a couple shifts but if they arent given some time to develop chemistry how do you expect things to work. Hell sissons gets all sorts of time with the 2nd line and it still has done a whole lot of nothing at 5v5
100% this. It's also frustrating to consistently see guys come up and look good to start (including over entire seasons) then just slowly fade away into nothingness as they get bounced in and out of the lineup/minors. I know young guys starting off strong and then regressing is pretty typical in the NHL but it seems like we can't get anyone to stick after their strong starts. Evangelista sadly looks like he's about to be the next one on this path.

Even if it is the freaking Penguins who wind up benefitting, I hope he goes to Pitt and flourishes into a 25+ goal scorer just to make everyone our organization look completely brain dead and clueless

At this point for me, it is absolutely impossible to generate even a fraction of enthusiasm about any aspect of this organization right now.

The only positive for us is we are going to save a ton of money NOT making 7 hour round trips for games any time soon.......

One thing that Trotz is also doing with these type of moves is that he’s gutting the org depth with bringing nobody in. We’ve already lost the 7th d-man and now lost the 13/14 forward. It means that they’re going to have to tap into the AHL and weaken their team also. All that for Svechkov to come up and play for 6 fng minutes.

Honestly, I thought I already knew his plan, but he's seemingly undermining what I thought that plan was in realtime. I'm not yet to the "fire everybody" part yet (I try to avoid being quick to major judgements like that) but I wouldn't flinch too hard if that happened.

This. Absolutely this. To me the whole point justifying bringing in guys like Stamkos and Marchessault and Skjei was so that there would be folks for the kids to learn from and be insulated by. Instead, the kids are getting discarded at an alarming rate for fractions of pennies on the dollar.
The only thing bringing in vets has done is allowed Bruno to run more vet lines while continuing to isolate the young players and limit their ice time.

We now have to old vet lines made up of
Forsberg ror Nyquist
Stamkos sissons Marchessault

A grinder line with 1 young player
L'Heureux McCarron Smith

And 1 catchall for the unwanted youngsters and Jankowski

The defense isnt any better
Skjei josi
Lauzon carrier
Young expendable dman + Schenn

Instead of doing anything to leaverage the high end experienced players, weve isolated them and treated the young players as replaceable 3rd wheels.

And none of those vets are even bad players, they're blocking the kids but also underperforming or being mismanaged, likely a combo of both.

...which is why I'm already grumpy with Bruno (to put it mildly). Was just the other day commenting on HFCBJ about how I felt like we dodged a bullet up there w/r/t hiring him. (Admittedly, we dodged it right off a cliff since the guy hired instead was Babcock and the less said about that debacle the better, but still.)

Theyd should great mentors and insulators to help bring on the next generation but all i see are older players hogging all the ice time and forcing the young players to figure shit out themselves. Whether thats their choice or brunos i dont know but it is ridiculous at this point.

I'd be wiling to bet behind closed doors, this is Trotz and Bruno "clearing the trash" in their mind. Guys they don't think are the "style" they are looking for. I do not like that style of management. You need to figure out the strength of your players, find out what they are good at, and put them in position to succeed rather than demand everyone fits a specific style to row the boat. Hell Belichick made a HOF career on playing guys to their strengths, sometimes even at a singular level. Different sport, but I still think there's a degree to which it translates.

I wouldn't even mind that approach if there were any proof that Trotz and Bruno were actually any good at their jobs but neither of them have proven the ability to succeed in their current roles. Continuing to watch us double down on the flawed assumptions that got us to this point just makes it really hard to want to continue to watch a terrible team with no clear path to improvement.

It really feels like they have dumbed down the entirety of hockey into "grit harder" instead of any level of skill or system strength. I really wish we heard something about their stylistic approach to the game. It's all these amorphous catch phrases about out working and compete levels.

It could be. Waddell was doing something similar when he first showed up here w/r/t dumping all of Boqvist, Bean, Blankenburg ( ), Texier, Meyer, and Dunne, and I was similarly put out at the time over some of 'em, but so far he's been vindicated in those moves given how those players are doing elsewhere. Trotz's initial Questionable Act in this regard, however, is currently playing 25m/night on my other team's top pairing, so I'm not nearly as sanguine here. :(

Would have rather waived him on the off chance that he cleared and outlasted AB/BT. 2027 4th is useless under the current crew, and probably regardless

I just don't know how they could reasonably think that and still being skating Stamkos 17 minutes a night and 3rd in ES forward TOI. The guy is a complete liability in this system and style at ES.
