Tom Wilson or Milan Lucic

Wilson for me, Lucic had a better prime but he fell off really quick.

I know, but his "prime" was so quick, basically few seasons in Boston, he sucked in EDM and after that.
Lucic prime was so entertaining. Wilson’s having himself a super nice career. I agree that Wilson is probably the player you would want to but lucic prime was an absolute animal. Maybe krecji was carrying lucic offensively though…

I liked the goon aspect in Lucic, he's an intimidating guy.

Wilson’s pretty intimidating along the boards. Maybe not with his fists. But he has ruined so many brains I’m sure. Wilson crushes ppl.
I like Wilson too, not all the antics personally but what he brings to a cup run.

50 points or more seasons

Wilson 1

Lucic lead his team in regular season points ( something WIlson never did ) in Boston's 2010-2011 SC year.

I'll tip the hat to Wilson and acknowledge that he was built in the classic power forward mold. However, I think Lucic was superior in the four pillar traits that makes a traditional, old school power forward: goal scoring, hitting, intimidating, fighting.

Lucic was also the better performer in the playoffs.

Wilson's prime may not be over.

Wilson's last seven seasons were his best, he produced at a .63 clip.

Lucic's best seven season stretch (also his actual best seven) he was at a .69.

Scoring was lower during Lucic's time.

Both were useful idiots.

Doesn’t really paint an accurate picture as Wilson was pacing for 20G / 50 points both Covid seasons, as well as this year. Although to be fair Lucic also lost half a season in his prime to the lockout.

I would say Lucic’s peak was higher but Wilson’s prime will be longer. Both seem like leaders and good guys in the room but impossible to ignore the credible domestic violence charge that essentially ended Lucic’s career. Also thought it was kinda gross the way the Bruins handled that situation publicly but I guess that’s a different thread.

I’d say that in his prime as a point getter and a physical threat Lucic gets the edge, but Tom Wilson is going to have the better overall career. He’s a consistently great player for the team and is fully assumed to be the captain of the Capitals after Ovechkin retires.

Lucic's prime was better but it shouldn't be forgotten that Lucic got to play with prime Bergeron and Krejci and Wilson had to drag the corpse of Evgeny Kuznetsov around the ice for 4 seasons.

Also, only one of them is an all-star ;)

Lucic produced better, especially relative to the league in his prime. I think it’s hard to go against back to back 60 point seasons when scoring was lower. He was tied for 39th, tied for 49th and tied for 50th in his best three seasons. That’s about the equivalent of 70-75 point player today. Wilson has missed time, but his best full year was tied for 115th. Even with his good start this year he’d tied for 104th and on pace for 57 points, less than Lucic’s two best years.

I do like that Wilson is a strong defensive player and PKer though. He’s a better skater and a bit more versatile than Lucic, so could probably be a better fit in certain situations.
