Toews nominated for Selke

If they go with what is fair they should have Toews as Winner. Datsyuk and Bergeron already have won it :sarcasm:

Yes, I do. "Never" is exaggerating.

Eh, no, you really don't. It's a bit weird.
We have our share of very negative posters on here but even they are positive about the team more often than not. Hard not to be after a record-setting regular season, dominant first round victory and dominant win in Game 1 of the second round.

But of course 1 bad game erases all that... for, er... someone.

Anyway.
If Toews doesn't win the Selke, then it should be Bergeron's. I have Datsyuk a clear step behind both of those two this season, although he himself has a big edge on the guy behind him (in 4th).

Um... I was positive about the season overall. It was a great season, I was defending them quite a bit when people were saying the Hawks were peaking -- which to me was laughable. I just didn't think it meant that the Hawks were unbeatable as some of the media was suggesting. Dominant first round victory? Not based on their play, no. They didn't even try for most of the series. Minnesota was pretty bad -- I'll give the Hawks some credit for that, but to me a lot of it was Minnesota sucking too. Hell their fans can tell you that.

Dominant game 1 of the second round? Really.. maybe for a period, the 3rd. This is exactly what I mean when I say overrated. It was a great solid win, but by no means was it dominant.

1 bad game doesn't erase anything. I never said it did either. If you're talking about my thread in the main forum regarding them being overrated, this is something I've questioned and said for a while. It's mostly directed towards the media and non-Hawks fans who hype up the Hawks for things that they aren't. I never said they aren't a great team. You can't not be a great team and do what they did in the regular season. Here's another point I've argued... Corey Crawford is average. Is that a bad thing? No. He's certainly a lot better than he was a year ago, but I'd have to see more out of him against a better team to label him something more than that.

I picked Detroit in 7 mainly because I think the Hawks have played too inconsistently and I thought a team like Detroit would capitalize on it. I'm not rooting against the Hawks when I make a prediction, it's just a prediction -- nothing more. I'm getting tired of being called a fake fan around here just for criticizing some of the Hawks flaws.

Why "of course"? They had similar stats. The difference is Datsyuk had less help around him therefore I'd give it to him. I don't think you could go wrong with giving it to Toews though.

Having Z on the ice is less help?

When the Stats are as close as they are here... you have to look at the team success. One guys team finished with the best record and had the best D while the other is Datsyuk
