He still only managed BARELY over 20 minutes of ice time while we were playing like half the game with 4 D. Keefe not giving him suitable minutes is really starting to get on my nerves.
This is basically what he was like with Marlies for 3 years with the exception that while he was with the Marlies he had some offensive opportunity he doesn't get here. He was just a dominant two way dman night in and night out and he is finally bringing that game to the NHL level.
I think it'll be tough for Lilly to outperform Rielly, especially when Liljegren doesn't get any PP time. Hard to ignore Rielly when he gets the toughest matchups as well.
Is he our best defenseman now? Easily the largest positive impact despite his role.
Except tonight it undoubtedly is. What he did tonight being just one of four dmen left for us was ultra impressive against an aggressive team. If it’s him or Holl who sits in the playoffs it HAS to be Holl at this rate.
It's a shame really because I don't think Rielly is that good on the powerplay. His shot isn't enough of a threat and the team for whatever reason always have Marner or Matthews trying to make the zone entry.
I think it's a possibility but most people would NEVER agree with that. Still though he leads the Leafs in virtually all analytics that matter for dmen and is the most productive offensively on a per minute basis.
Yeah, he's always had a muffin of a shot. Gio is probably the best option with his bomb of a shot. It would be really hard to justify taking Rielly off the PP though when hes probably going to have another 70 point year.

I would easily do this as well, try and max out the term while keeping the aav around 4. I just had not thought about any other than a bridge to keep $ down whos I TBE flat world, it that will cost later on.
