I think to ensure nobody players continues to be fresh you offer maintenance days leading up to the playoffs. We really need a deep run and I suspect if we make it deep into the playoffs we’re are gonna need the depth. Personally I don’t think Liljegren should be coming out but vets always seem to get pushed into the lineup over the kids.

Tfw you realize that these "experts" scouting opinions are based on nothing more than who's on the ice when a goal is scored.
Well Mike Johnston was able to clarify which I like when he’s on. He said Lilly gets a lot of attention because he does so many great things and it gets overshadowed by the one big mistake that ends up in the back of the net. But the proof is in the pudding the kid has proven he’s legit. He can play and be effective. Simple, even I didn’t really see it earlier but there’s no arguing it.

To be fair early on he was prone to the "big mistake" which was fairly eye catching, it had shades of Gardiner about it and as much as I loved Gards his mistakes were extremely noticable

Now the game doesn't look to fast for him, he's just cool calm and composed and nothing fazes the kid

Thank goodness Dubas did not trade him away. The kid is just starting to come into his own, and he's already a legit top 4 NHL defenceman.

I heard Vancouver is interested.

"Can we trade for Liljegren from the Leafs?"
"We have Liljegren at home."

It's now obvious why Coliaiacovo was such a useless D-man.

He has no clue what a good one looks like.

Carlo when not injured was pretty good.

Had a bunch of good years along side Alex Pietrangelo. Injuries and Pat Quinn’s reluctance to play young guys held him back. Leafs would have been better off if we held on to him and Steen. Still a brutal deal. Carlo is very knowledgeable about the game and he does provide good insight, especially when it comes to reading the game. I find he and Corrado are very good at detailing what’s happening on the ice, especially during their D-to-D segment. He may be wrong about Liljegren but he’s actually better than other analysts and radio personalities in terms of explaining what’s happening on the ice.

Genuinely have no idea how he got a job as an analyst. My only memory of his career assuming I am remembering this correctly is when he took the near death marked skate to the neck when he played for the Leafs against who was it, Ottawa?

Carlo is always forever be known for one thing and one thing only

If we keep Gio/Lily together, and I think we should, for the other pairings it seems our options are:

Option 1:
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl

Option 2:
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Boosh

Option 3:
Rielly - Boosh
Muzzin - Brodie

Personally, I like option 3 best. Any pairing that leaves Muzzin with another bigger, slower, less talented puck handling dman (Holl or Boosh) seems like a bad call. We end up with a pairing that’s just too slow and weak in transition.

IMO, the only sensible partners for Muzzin on the Leafs are Brodie and Lily. While Boosh is a weak-ish partner for Rielly, this option does leave us with 3 strong pairs overall, and I think that’s crucial. IMO it’s more important to have strong D all game long than 1 great pair and 1 weak pair - the weak pair will get lit up.

The other option is splitting up Gio/Lily, but I’d try to avoid that, they’ve been so good together.

I was surprised to see him at 16 minutes played yesterday; seemed like him/Gio were never on the ice.
Maybe because the game was like ping pong.
