Not unless Nashville is paying us assets to take on Stamkos.

Norris would be a good fit for them, but even if he got injured, they have assets to make moves and abuse LTIR the way TB and VGS did. We better be getting one of their 3 first round picks back and some other assets.
I hear ya. But don't forget that until the last two months, Norris was a liability, not an asset. Damaged goods with a long, pricey contract. And Stamkos was an asset, not a liability.

I wouldn't call Norris a liability as much as a huge risk, but point taken.

If management is going to move depth scoring, I'd prefer it be for someone a bit more reliable than Stamkos who is a great vet leader, but his production is god awful especially on 5on5 where we need help.

Stu and Brady are lighting it up on the PP, we need some more ES help

And Batherson too - he's leading the team in PP points.

Stamkos did score 40ish ES points last year, and about the same on the PP. This year, he's a black hole at ES, but I believe he's playing one line too high and is overburdened at centre. Shift him to the wing in 1A/1B situation and watch his ES scoring increase, especially with a gifted playmaker at centre to feed him shooting opportunities.

Anyways, this is likely moot as he'd have to waive, and before that, Nashville would have to be willing to trade him. They are in dead last, so that's not impossible, but it is improbable.

Wonder if he can play through whatever upper body injury he's going through. He was wincing after hits tonight and not as fast as he usually is or as patient.

Bonkers idea.

Stamkos for Norris. Similar salary/term.

Stammer rides Stutzle's wing and could snipe 30, while playing on PP1.

Pinto replaces Norris with Brady and Batherson. Greig Graduates to 3C.

Stamkos was surrounded with playmaking talent in Tampa where even last year he was a 40-40-80 winger. He's got little support in Nashville and is back to playing centre. Stutzle would bring out the best in him, and Norris would add much needed energy down the middle in Nashville.
This is not a terrible idea. My main concern is his contract sees him to 39 and I have no idea if he's gonna actually play well for those 4 years. Norris will be for sure good for those years, barring injury -- and even then there's LTIR considerations.

I think people are overvaluing Norris and looking at Stamkos' numbers this year as though they're representative of who he is now. But the problem is that unless everyone believes Stamkos is Ovechkin and will just be able to continue to pile up goals into his 40s, past this year or next he will not be as productive as Norris. Which makes the move kind of a desperation "get us into the playoffs" move.

We need to find a guy like Hyman was before last year, who can score about 25-30 without a Stutzle feeding them the puck and can translate that into 50+.

That or if NYR are blowing things up you go hard after a guy like Kreider (doubtful we have the assets to get him and that we're not on his no trade list).

Ideally though, Norris gets back to his pre-injury form and puts up 40.
