Replace him with Sam Elliott (who played Thunderbolt in the Bana Hulk movie) and hope no one notices.Wonder how they'll address the passing of William Hurt (the actor who's played Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU so far).
It's official.Harrison Ford has already been (re)cast as General Ross? I can't remember if that's a rumour, an official casting, or something in between from reputable sources.
I really like the idea of Julia Louis Dreyfuss leading a team like the Thunderbolts. She plays such a great douchebag. And the Thunderbolts are traditionally kind-of douches. I'm not sure what to make of the MCU Thunderbolts though, John Walker and La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine being the only true douches so far. We shall see.
Would not be surprised about the * I was kind of thinking the same thing. Also found it interesting they have not shown the character the team is named after in the comics yet...even though we got a short glimpse of the red Hulk/Thunderbolt Ross in the CA 4 trailer. Some fun theories:
- the * will come off and this will be renamed The Dark Avengers
- the events of Brave New World will lead the government to green light Val to finally assemble this team in action
- on the other side, those same events will lead Sam Wilson on a mission to regroup the Avengers team in a future movie (maybe Doomsday).
My most fun theory is they will write in Dr Doom in the background as the one working with Val and the US government to assemble this team to advance his own intentions in Doomsday. And that Dr Doom in 616 actually comes from whatever universe the Fantastic 4 are in for their upcoming movie.
I really should get back to work
Something about this is leaving me very whelmed. I think I've just been a bit let down by the more down to Earth side of the MCU this seems to occupy (Cap and Winter Soldier+Black Widow were just very meh to me) and this feels, to me, like it'll be another tonally whatever kind of project.
