Oh f*** NO...I know CDH has been bad but this feels like a recipe for 4+ GA
The top 4 is obviously very good, but it's kind of bewildering to look at just how insanely long they've had a revolving door on the bottom pair, and it still doesn't seem to have come together. Is it going to get yet another shuffle in the off-season this year too? (Or am I just looking at it funny? The seemingly never ending shake-up is the master plan?)

I have never pretended to be objective about my love for Svech. He was one of the main reasons I became a serious canes fan—he wears my favorite number and has the male version of my name. So to me — this is a sports funeral.

That being said, we are still in first and going to the playoffs for the gabillionth year in a row.
So could be a lot worse. We’ll see.

Oh my goodness, the doomers are out in full force on the message boards. If I was a betting man (Disclosure: I don't bet on sports), now would be my time to buy low on Canes stock :naughty:
Said the same thing about betting in the Svech thread. This team is too good and too well coached to count out. Certainly an uphill climb without Svech but not insurmountable. I will say I will be sad for him if the manage to win it all and he can't be on the ice.

Eh, I will say that before Chat went down and Ghost came aboard while CDH was certainly a 3rd pair guy he wasn't awful. Now since he has been paired with Ghost he has had some monumental brain cramps that have led to goals. But a healthy Chat solves or at the very least minimizes the D issues. CDH deserves some pine time for his mistakes but over all he's not a bad 7th D when Chat is there. Chat Ghost is a pretty good 3rd pair.

I don't think this is critical hit against Carolina. Puljujarvi isn't going to replace Svechnikov's production, but lets not pretend Svech is a top 10 winger in the league either. This team is more than the sum of its parts, I still think they are contenders.
The team will be fine and Svech isn’t quite a top 10 winger but losing him is a big blow to our chances of winning it all. We’ve said all year the most important thing for this team in the playoffs will be Svech taking that step towards the dominance we’ve seen that he is capable of at times. I still think we could make it to ECF but I don’t have any illusions of going much further past that. Hey it’s possible but I’ve tempered my expectations quite a bit after this injury, especially with Patches also out who we were counting on. We’re at a severe disadvantage without those 2. The rest of the guys stepping up is possible but there’s also only so much you can do with a certain amount of talent.

You know that drill at the end of warmups where they throw a live puck at the net and scramble around to see who can bury it?

They just did the longest version of it that I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t keeping time or counting saves/pokechecks, but it felt like about 60 seconds and 10, respectively.

There’s snakebit, and there’s being completely inside the snake.

If you're at the game, you're missing the most depressing pregame show ever. Between the Svech news, the Attorney General talking about deaths from opioids and Mike and Tripp discussing Tripp's alcoholism, it's a real cheerful time.

Favorite part of the pregame was Tripp saying the whole team needs to step but teuvo needs to play the best hockey of his career haha
