Especially after we’ve witnessed the horrors of situations like the Berard-Hossa accident, players have no excuse for not being aware of the damage that the blade of a stick can do to an eye. Tkachuk is a moron at best and a sociopath at worst for willingly putting another player at risk of blindness like that. Two games is too lenient for this kind of bullshit conduct.

Repeat offender, attempted to injure a goalie in what is not even a hockey play. Thats the kind of shit that can end someones career, look at Pronger when he took an accidental stick to the eye.

I would go generously on completely out of hockey play non-incident affair, specially for repeat offender, way over high speed people becoming vulnerable last second leading to a dangerous but hockey play that was hard to evaluate and change.

Nobody plays to lose their sight because someone is doing this on purpose.

Accidents can happen but this type of stuff should be eliminated as much as possible.

Boarding, hits to the head etc. obviously need to be taken very seriously, but more often than not they are still just hockey plays gone wrong.

Shit like spearing, kicking, biting has nothing to do with hockey. Give the first offense 10 games. The next 20.

Regardless of the suspension, I wouldn't mind seeing teams bring back the attitude of "if you touch our goalie we end your night."

I just wanted to lightly smack him in the face with my stick. Drawing a retaliatory penalty when the other team freaked out due to me having the potential to stick him in the eye. It's ridiculous that I'm being punished for sticking him in the eye.

Sounds plausible. Maybe I need to see it a few more times to believe. You know, to truly believe.

Based on player and previous history, should probably be 5 games or more.
