I just read that he would like to play another season. I understand it's too early to grade Iginla based on his performance with the Kings. My opinion only, I think the Kings should find a way to bring him back for one more season. The guy wants to win the cup and it showed with the Kings. His short time with the Kings was much better than it was with the Avalanche, and I think his experience and mental game can definitely contribute to a rebound year for the Kings. I feel that the opportunity to bring Iggy back is something the Kings shouldn't pass up. I think the Kings have gotten soft since winning in 2014 but Iggy is fierce, plays hard and physical and is always looking for the puck around the crease area, enabling him to make nifty plays (things that definitely lacked this year with the team's offense). What does everyone think?

He's a UFA next season, yeah? Considering his only goal is to win the cup at this point I doubt he signs with the Kings.

I don't want him back. He's one of the few players that played with some fire down the stretch--not to mention scored some goals--but his underlying numbers were dreadful. That doesn't bode well going forward into his age-40 season.

Not to mention he's not particularly young nor particularly fast, which are two things the Kings need to improve on (and apparently appeal the Blake if you read between the lines).

Loved his toughness and leadership. I'd like that back for sure.

But he is horrible on the defensive side of the puck and, if that six goals on 16 shots stat is true, don't fall in love with the idea of him scoring at the pace he did.

-9 in 19 games is pretty rough. Like I said, would love the leadership and toughness but using precious cap space on him when the team supposedly wants to get faster is a tough call.

Only way it happens, for me, is if they are going very young next season. Like, all three young d-men plus Kempe/Brodz/Mersch make the team out of camp, meaning that some salary has been shed and there is still room for him after extending Toffoli and Pearson. A team with letter-wearers that mostly didn't handle it well and a ton of young guys could benefit from his intangibles.

Vinny part two. Still flashes of the skill that made them great once, but overall just not effective players anymore.

I actually want him to win a cup and I hope he wins it. Unless he signs with the Ducks, Sharks, Canadians and Pens then eff him. My hatred runs deep with these teams. Anyways I'm pretty sure he's not gonna sign here.

I'd love for him to come back another year but after his comments today I doubt he resigns with us . He wants to go to a contender

And what are the Kings? IMO they are still contenders. They still have team, that core won 2 Cups. T

Brown shouldn't get any stick this year - yeah maybe he is a bit overpaid but he put up good points this year compared to most and he does a lot more on the ice than score/assist - Gaborik isn't hitting people and Kopi gets 10m

Played well, popped in a decent number of goals, brought the leadership as expected, but ultimately didn't get the Kings any closer to the playoffs.

On the downside, the Kings got scored on a lot while he was on the ice. Just caught on the wrong side of the puck.

I noticed that he tried to leave the zone early without the puck. The defensemen tried to hit him with stretch passes, but didn't work most of the time. He never seemed to mesh well with the style of play on the defensive side.

I'm not for bringing him back, but I'd like to see him ride into the sunset next season on the back of a contender. Class act all the way.

If they sign him, they have to give up that conditional pick. I'm guessing they'll keep the pick and just move on. This roster does seem to need who Iginla is as a guy, but not sure they have the luxury of having him as a player.

I'm not sure bringing him back would be a good idea. But they could sign him to a 1 year bonus laden deal with him being over 35. Which would mean only paying him if he preformed.

Even though Iginla wants to go to a contender, I don't think any of the contenders are really interested in his services. If they were, the Kings would not be the only team looking to trade for him.

If he is willing to sign for 1 year, $1 million, then I would love to sign him for our third line. If he is our fix for the top line winger role, then I have no faith in this upcoming season.

I'm still torn. Like tsunari says you can sign him to an incentive laden deal and yes he still has very good hands around the net, but I almost feel like it's going to be Smyth and Richards all over again where their play in the defensive zone makes it almost impossible to keep them in the lineup.

Plus, while he was very effective with Kopi to finish the year, do you really want to start next year with Iginla on Kopi's wing? And how effective would he be with Shore or Dowd as his C.

Still on the fence, but leaning towards moving on.

All great points whether it's for bringing him back or not bringing him back. I think I just look at Lucic and see how well he's doing with Edmonton (how bad were they last year!) Many people wanted Lucic gone, I felt he should stay but unfortunately, the two sides couldn't come to an agreement. I wished Williams stayed also, I'd need to look back and see why he didn't re-sign with the Kings, but he's been doing well with Washington as well. I'm putting it on chance that with a new coach and maybe a change in the playing system, Iginla might find a good fit and be beneficial to the Kings' scoring chances. Let's face it, the Kings can definitely get shots on the net, but the majority of shots taken was so poor and not enough rebound cleanup on the opposing net.

No they don't have to give up nothing. The trade had 2 conditions on it. The kings had to win rounds in the playoffs and he had to be resigned for the pick to go. The first part of the conditions were not might no pick going.

Now i would sign iginla if we have the money. Pearson and toffoli would have to be signed first. Also still have money left over for any other rfas. If we have enough money to resign him great :)

Pretty sure they give up the pick if they re-sign him. Winning rounds would of made them lose the pick as will signing him.

It was either/or: not both.
