This pulling the goalie down 3 thing needs to end

Coaches have absolutely lost their minds. Avs pulled down 2, 10 seconds later an empty net goal. Immediately pull again, 10 seconds later the puck is in their net again. It's pathetic to watch.

At what point do you try and have the smallest ounce of respect for yourself and your team and just call it what it is?

This has been rampant in the league this year and has not ONCE lead to a tie game down 3.

Just stop it

So just give up is what you're saying ?

Yes.

Sports betting is a necessity for the growth of the game for better or for worse. This type of shit highly discourages betting because it makes the end of the game completely unpredictable.

Point is, it helps literally no one including the team trying to pull

What's even funnier is that goal differential is a tie-breaker. It's way down the list, but it does exist.

For the "what do they have to lose" crowd. You could potentially lose a lot if you're getting blown out 8-4 instead of 6-4 on a regular basis if the race is tight at the end of the year

If it makes you feel better the tie breaker won’t matter with how far behind the jets you’ll be!

Panthers looked good today!

Had the under, did you?

If I had the under, because neither of these goalies could stop a beach ball, I would've been cooked well before 8-4...

I had not a penny on this game. I'm just tired of watching the circus that is the last 5 minutes of an NHL game turning into the NFL with timeouts every down.

It’s not like you gain anything from a better goal differential. Going for a win is a must.

That’s just how she goes

You literally do though. It's a tie breaker.

6. The greater differential between goals for and against (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the DIFF column.

A far down tie breaker, after point differential which is the ultimate goal

Unless a team has secured a the top seed in the playoffs, any coach who doesn't should be canned.

Uh... been watching hockey for 20+ years and this is a very recent development. Coaches were never getting canned because they didn't pull the goalie down 3. This is a very recent development in the league ever since that study came out that said (and I'm paraphrasing) if you're down 2 you should statistically pull the goalie with like 15 minutes left in the third

Empty net goals are up a ridiculous amount in the last couple years

I'm older, and yeah, it's more recent, but doesn't make it a bad thing. Shutting it down is just giving up.

And, ultimately, it depends on the game.

Happened last year, against the Jets. Jets were up 3 and hurricanes pulled the goalie with 5 minutes left and came back to tie it. Jets won in OT, but the Canes got a point out of it.

And anyone who cares about the impact this has on bettng can f*** right off. The league has been around for a century before this non-stop gambling BS took over. Far from a necessity - rampant gambling is a threat to the long term integrity of the sport.

I believe it also happened in a game involving the Sharks several years ago. It’s definitely possible to come back from down 3, completely stupid loser mentality to give up.

I just love tuning into Team1200 and listening for 45 minutes about how the hosts did on their hypothetical parlays from Fan Duel last night and what parlays they were going to put together today.

Unfortunately, that’s who sponsors sports radio these days so that’s the nonsense I have to endure before they actually get to talking about sports.
