In light of the amazing game and chemistry that Domi had with Knies and Marner tonight. Plus the good game that the line of Bertuzzi JT and Nylander had as well.

Would you guys be opposed if Keefe stuck with those 2 lines for the start of next game and had Matthews when he's back in the lineup center a line of either Gregor/Robertson or Gregor/Jarnkrok just to see what happens? And potentially see if Matthews could possibly get 2 of those guys going?

I'm not going to lie. I would love to see it. Now let me reiterate. This would obviously be just a temporary thing. You clearly can't have a guy like Matthews playing on a 3rd line and of course eventually he would return to the top line. But I am just saying, I wouldn't be opposed to this experiment even if it's just for half a period or perhaps a full period.

I just want to see if Domi's amazing game tonight with Knies and Marner together was just a fluke or not. And clearly Matthews has shown he can drive his own line. So I would be very curious to try this out.

What do you guys think?

P.S I know I am crazy. Lol.

First, 4 52 am post.
Second, glad you aren't going to lie.
Third, AM and MM love to play offense like basketball. To night we played up ice, ahead of the puck. It was fun to watch, not always easy to play, but fun.
This style opens ice in your own end as the d for Pitt couldn't pinch in.makes our weak d look better.
Hard to take AM and his league leading goals and change him a third liner, but I do like your thoughts.

I personally have been enjoying the chemistry Matthews and Nylander were building the past few games. The line had a lackluster start but they've been dominating their shifts recently.

I'd make the duos Matthews-Nylander

Knies-Domi-Marner

JT-Bertuzzi

Matthews is the best scorer in the league. He deserves a Nylander carrying the puck

Cracked the code to 3 great lines.

Credit to Keefe to finding that trio

I don't mind this topic.

It's good to know that a line blender with these combinations could work. Keefe might need to try something like this to get a goal late in a big playoff game.

I think that a number of things can be tried for a spell during the regular season. I might also caution that last night's dominance came against a team that's currently on the outside looking in (in terms of the playoff picture). Truthfully, I am most glad to not see any sort of thread made about Matthews somehow now being redundant! :)

Yup. Seasons 82 games, we're going to make the playoffs, plenty of time to try anything and everything.

I hate how Keefe has 82 games to try different line combinations but waits until the playoffs when we're desperate for goals to do something.

Try everything and anything throughout the season, why not? Especially when things aren't clicking.

Matthews has said he likes playing with Jarnkrok so I would try a Robertson - Matthews - Jarnkrok line.

Robertson has played very well, he hasn't earned that opportunity.

The last few games this team feels different, the jello is beginning to set………
I still remember the first 2 periods against CLB but still, it does feel a bit different. The biggest thing maybe is the way Knies stood up for a teammate last night, and Domi doing the same earlier. I had pretty much given up hope after the Marchand debacle when nobody did a damn thing, now I'm starting to think that maybe there's some hope after all.

Slowly creeping up the standings. Regulation PTS% is in the top 10 for I assume the first time this season, 4th in the East. Looking forward to the Rangers game!

I’d love to try that line again as well. But personally I’d try
Bertuzzi Matthews Nylander
Knies Domi Marner
Robertson Tavares Jarnkrok

I figured you would come around by January, so a little earlier than expected. People are finally starting to appreciate that this is a different team than years past. Last night's game is actually irrelevant other than as the continuation of a maturation process. Pittsburgh is a terrible team, so running up the score on them is meaningless. What matters is watching how the team is coming together as players naturally find and get comfortable with their role in the larger structure.
