I think the flyers definition of a rebuild differs from conventional thinking. Their rebuild doesn’t start with players and draft capital, but with rebuilding the ‘culture’ of the locker room. They believe the value of ‘culture’ to be tangible and carries more weight than that of a draft pick to which I heavily disagree with because the very nature of people are different and even a draft pick can change said ‘culture’. In all honesty, I don’t know what they mean when they say culture. If it’s guys who get along then that’s pretty cute, but stop f***ing up the team long-term.
Culture can be a pretty blanket term, but if it means 1 thing, and that thing is, I dont have to watch Kevin Hayes coast around the ice every game, that's 1 positive. but culture can only be substituted so far in place of talent

On the recent STG episode ASF said if the Flyers get an offer similar to the one at the draft that they were offered for Laughton (1st rounder+) this deadline he thinks they’ll pull the trigger this time around. However he doesn’t think that offer comes around this time. So he ultimately thinks Laughton stays.
#rebuild...🤣🤣🤣

Plus they haven't even put Ellis on LTIR this season, so they have over $10M to play with at the TDL.
Lot's of teams up against the cap that would like to add a couple pieces if they could dump a salary.
Problem is some of these teams are really thin in terms of draft picks and prospects.

I'm told this was an unsubstantiated rumor from an untrustworthy source that has been debunked.

I would not expect anything movement until deadline day. That’s the way it’s been going for years now league wide. A few spot trades then there are 20-30 trades in the last 2 hours. Everyone is waiting for someone else to make the first move

Theyve made it pretty clear they arent trading anyone.

Couturier, Farabee, Tippett, Sanheim are locked up long term and Foerster, York, Drysdale, Ersson are obviously young guys theyre comitted to.

Other than that?

Cant trade Laughton, they need him for the culture.

Cant trade Seeler, they need him for the culture.

Cant trade TK, they need him for the culture.

Cant trade Risto, they need him for the culture.

Cant trade Atkinson, they need him for the culture.

Cant trade Deslauries, they need him for the culture.

Cant trade Hathaway, they need him for the culture.

That leaves Walker and Frost I guess.

Still dont see how they plan to make a contender when they refuse to move anyome on a roster thats not good enough.

not one person here could have called Frost would be the only guy gone and call it #rebuild complete..

not one single person..

I busted a gut laughing the other day when I heard that ASP said Frost, if he keeps doing well, might internally be a sell high option. Like that’s the takeaway to your most talented young center, in an organization utterly devoid of them — who isn’t breaking the bank — making progress into a top 6 player. Rebuild, baby.

When you aren't using LTIR, you can bank the daily cap space you don't use. Most people look at cap on a AAV basis, which it is, but the nitty gritty is that it's a daily calculation AAV/Days in the Season.
Which is why Ellis isn't on LTIR, that's a last resort move when Briere needs more cap room, meanwhile he's bee stashing room for the TDL. Not just direct deals, but Flyers can also be third part on trades taking on cap hits.

I don't believe that there is any way to predict what the Flyers can get in return for any of their supposed tradable assets this month. Laughton is available in a market where there are teams that need a center and a market where, after the two recent trades, there aren't many available. The same goes with Walker and Seeler. Teams in the POs know that there are never enough defensemen once that drive to the Cup begins.
So the trade returns will depend on how the market goes and Briere's ability to play it. JMO but after the Provorov and Gauthier deals, other GMs understand that Briere is not the easy touch that Fletcher was. All in all he did fairly well in those transactions.
