I think we might trade 1st rd picks for a center under 25 that they feel would thrive as a 2C with 1C potential, but not for a middle six type.
I just have to imagine that there's going to be a contending team that will pay more for them than we would. I'd be all in on Zegras or Middlestadt depending on the price. Cozens or Krebs would be interesting too but again depends on the price. At this point I'm more interested in shedding garbage than acquiring real pieces though doing both would be ideal. Hard to have faith in these bozos though!

8:08 - Weekes clearly saw my trade forum thread about Giroux from December.

"Taking a run at re-signing Konecny" is a weird thing to bring up now. He can't re-sign until July 1st.
Doesn’t mean you can’t get it done though.

I'd guess that taking a run is finding a deal well ahead of the TDL so they are confident they can get it done when they can formally do so. I'm stating the obvious, aren't I?

Hey Flyers fans can you give me some insight on Sean Walker. What are his strengths and weaknesses. Is he a good D? Where do you think he slots in ideally (#4 dman, #5 dman, #6, etc)?

I’ve tried to read through a few pages in this thread but saw only one post where it seemed poster was happy to move on from him. So just wanted to get your thoughts as you folks would know him best. Thanks in advance.

He's a very good middle defensive pairing D-man who can play 15-17min ES a night and you don't really have to worry about him. He plays with Nick Seeler, and Walker typically handles the puck more often in the D-zone. He's usually responsible for the exits. He's got a good first pass out of the zone, but he's better at using his feet and joining the rush in the NZ. He's also very good at getting the offensive blueline with possession. And, he's good at defending his own d-line. In short, he's a transition specialist. His d-zone coverage is just okay. He's got average puck skills and vision, so don't expect a ton from him in the offensive zone.

I would be all over Zegras. I wonder if Florida's 1st + 2nd + Brink gets it done?

ASF saying the Flyers would like to keep Seeler but do want to see the market as well.

They would like to trade Risto but don’t want to retain as much because of retention on Hayes’ and DeAngelo buyout (makes no sense). Acknowledged Toronto and Calgary. Maybe a third team gets involved.

Walker’s asking price is a 1st round pick, and his is $5m/yr

Wait..what? Walker wants 5 million? Trade him now

Briere is smart enough not to bid against himself, start with what you'd like, and let someone else negotiate an alternative deal good enough to get you to bite.

I don't think Risto will be traded until the summer of 2025, at which time he'll only have 2 years left at $5M with a cap that has risen for two years. It's just really hard to work out a TDL trade without retaining a bunch of money, which Briere would rather not do, and Risto, as long as he maintains his current play, might have more value a year from now with a shorter term. Maybe if you take Ceci back or another bad contract with similar term.

Walker is gone, they're not giving him a 3-4 year deal at $4-5M, not with Drysdale, Sanheim and Risto playing RHD, Attard on a now or never season in 2024-25 and Bonk a year or two away.

Seeler will go if someone offers enough.

Keep Seeler? Didn't they just get Helge Grens from LA? Aren't they rebuilding? Isn't louie belpedio also on the team as a cheap vet option (I actually liked his play earlier this season).

I guess the Flyers just have to have the over 30 7th dman on the roster

Some team might bite on that. High draft picks have been thrown around like candy the last few deadlines
Orlov and Hathaway cost a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th
ROR and Acciari got a 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Horvat got a 1st and Beauvillier
year before
Giordano & Blackwell got (2) 2nds and a 3rd
G got a 1st, 3rd and Tippett
Lindholm got a 1st, (2) 2nds
Chiarot got a 1st and 4th
Toffoli got a 1st and 4th
Jarnkrok got a 2nd & 3rd
Manson got a 2nd & Helleson

Premier players garner a 1st, I think Walker is more like Manson or Jarnkrok in value.

If Briere can find a sucker for Risto and get a decent return for Walker I can live with extending Seeler provided the numbers work.
Same, but also moving Staal for me

I think Grans is a bit of a project to be honest, might need another year.

Andrae is the one we need to make room for.

Lets see if Danny is like chuck and waits until the last minute and runs out of time of if he gets to work.

My buddy is a Rangers fan talking about how there is chatter about dealing Kakko or Lafrienierre. I'd be more interested in Kakko if available but would we make a deal with them? He was potentially interested in Atkinson but he's an idiot.

Still have 2 more days.

I think that's an ideal scenario really.

I really like Seeler as a bottom pairing defenseman, as long as the term is under 2 years. He's the perfect vet for young players to develop next too on the bottom line. No flash, no substance, just a guy that works his ass off for his shot in the big game on bottom dollar.

Now, if someone wants to give us a 2nd for him, I'll drive him to the airport myself.
