Just finished the PHLY interview with Jonesy:

1. Sounded like the front office is still intent on selling, he mentioned the Colorado game as a reminder that Flyers aren’t there yet. Mentioned that guys have over performed and made them change their minds on a few of them

2. Likes the young D core, mentioned Hunter McDonald and called him a beast. Also said Bonk was more of a defensive d men who is now figuring out offense?

3. Bob Murray’s job is to scout defensemen anywhere in the world. Wherever he wants. Org has full trust in him

4. Feels bad for Flyers locker room but believes Danny was clear in level setting, “players have over performed BUT we’re building for future”. Standing by whats best long term, but will keep evaluating individual players

5. Already offers for players, a lot of interest in guys. Its a credit to the players
Well if they can make a long term decision based on a nothing game vs. Washington to re-sign Risto long-term I guess they can do the same here.

Without knowing which players, no way to know if alarming or not. I’d imagine one of them was Sanheim, which we already knew. They tried to sell and now he’s worth a lot more than they were gonna sell him for.
Also may be referring to Frost.

Also may be referring to Frost.
After Frost's second half last year and how he started this year in the Torts doghouse, there's no chance Jones is referring to Frost there as an overachiever.

Sanheim, Tippett and TK are possibilities... but there's also a really good chance he's referring to guys like Seeler and Waker given the rumblings that they (at least Seeler, anyway) could be re-signed.

So Jones admits they need to add centers but doesn't care where they draft this year. So what's the plan to add them?
Their only real options are to get really aggressive once they see one as Him.

-Package picks at the draft if you can get someone interested.

-An Eichel-like situation develops elsewhere.

-Get lucky that someone they draft(ed) in the later rounds emerges.

-Another Michkov-like, or really a Kaprizov-like Russian situation, where you roll the dice on someone that drops in the draft because of signability issues.

So unless a team is willing to trade back with a 1C on the board, basically the path is to hope and pray. The other option is to hope that McDavid/Draisatl/Petersson hit the market and want to sign here. But in that case, there was no actual rebuild but just wasting a few years waiting for Fletcher's cap blunders to expire. Seems like a real solid plan.

“Sanhero”

Try and be intellectually honest.

I am so glad that you are finally being positive about Sanheim and recognizing him as heroic.

The irony was I supported the Sanheim extension, & even after his lousy last season said his contract would prove fine & he’d get the same if he went to the open market last summer. Funny how I ended up defending him more than his previous defenders.

Unless they commit to a tank, it’s not coming any other way. At least we know Briere will get aggressive if not creative. The only reason Laughton didn’t get traded was to get the 1st round pick so they could move up to get Michkov but figured out he didn’t need to.

Did you watch the interview? It was a good one.

Jones simply said that some players have made them change their minds.

I think they were shopping Frost & may now be reconsidering. It’s possible they were considering trading Risto & are reconsidering. He also could be referring to Walker, in that they didn’t expect him to be this good & have to reconsider.

Yes, it's very wise to not question anything Fletcher did. I hear he didn't make any mistakes! Having no mistakes in five years is the best run in any sport.
