People have to relax about Brink.
Caufield's first two seasons:
67g ES 13:48 18-12 30, PP 2:51 5-8 13
46g ES 14:46 19-7 26, PP 3:15 7-7 14

Brink
38g ES 12:10 5-9 14, PP 2:14 2-2 4

Two things have slowed Brink's development, the shoulder injury last season and the lack of a 3C.

If this was to me, I’m perfectly calm about Brink lol. I was simply saying every young guy on this team other than Brink is exceeding our wildest expectations during this 5 game win streak.

Brink will be fine long term.

Whether Torts’s coaching / benching had anything to do with the play of certain young guys or whether they just persevered and succeeded in spite of the roadblocks he put up, you can’t argue with the results right now.

saying it and doing it are two different things. Until we see the latter people are not going to believe this
I don’t disagree, and if this was coming from Briere / Jones, I’d certainly be saying “actions speak louder than words”.

But it’s coming from Torts. He literally does not give a f**k when speaking to the media. He has zero tact with reporters and doesn’t give a damn about fans. For anyone to even think Torts is saying this sh*t to appeal to fans of the rebuild is hilarious.

The next buy I want to see is Giroux a year from now on his expiring contract when we are loading up for a Cup run.
That is not inconceivable, Ottawa is a mess, they're going to have to reboot their rebuild.
They have only $1M in cap room.

But I think Flyers would have to move out a few veterans, not for cap room, but to keep open playing spots for young players as they arrive. Atkinson is the prime candidate, root for a strong finish to make him marketable this summer. Laughton, Hathaway are other candidates. Deslauriers could be buried, but since he's basically nailed to the bench, doesn't matter.

Flyers are top heavy at RW, so moving G back to LW would fill a short-term hole while they look for LW/Cs (Cates back at LW still means Tippett or Foerster have to play on their off side).

Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman on todays pod mentioned that there is was a time they thought Carter Hart was going to Los Angeles

Teams looking for goalies:
NJ
CAR
LA
COL
EDM?
TOR?
I have no idea what Hart will actually return, but maybe a package for the Kings of like Hart for 1st this year or next, Turcotte (reclamation project), and Kaliyev? Too much? Not enough? Maybe take back one of their goalies on an expiring contract for cap purposes if necessary?

Your trade proposals are always famously bad lol

For us or them? Turcotte was a highly touted prospect and is only 22 currently scoring at nearly PPG in the AHL. I have no idea what Hart is going to return, but you gotta start somewhere. What would you expect/want?

No they aren't. Flyers are second by a point.
Standings, and waiver claims, are measured by Points% until all teams have played the same number of games. Right now there's a 5 game gap between the teams with the most GP and those with the least GP.

13.19 If only one Club makes a claim for the Player on whom Waivers have been requested, such Player shall be transferred to that Club. In the event that more than one Club makes a claim for such Player, he shall: (i) be transferred to the claiming Club having earned the lowest percentage of possible points in the League standing at the time of the request for Waivers,

no ones touching Hart till that enquiry lands.

That may be the case, but for the purposes of this trade proposal I'm assuming he's exonerated or that the inquiry isn't pertinent to him. Obviously, if he's noted as doing something in the report then his trade value is zero, but I'm trying to figure out the value or return to expect if that's not in play.

Moving Hart is fine but the time of secondary pieces, or winning trades on volume needs to end.

This organization is obsessed with volume.

Hart is a proven #1 goaltender in the league at this point. Package him with other assets if need be but the Flyers need to come away with real talent moving on from any premier trade piece of their own.

No more second line/pairing BS.

It gets doubly tricky when you're reading small sample size metrics from a team like Montreal, but Xhekaj had some legitimately good defensive impacts in a sub-20 game sample size this year.

Unfortunately, he was also HORRENDOUS in a ~50 game sample size last year. Impressively terrible. Nadir Marc Staal bad. And of course there's no reason to trust that they'd be acquiring him for positive reasons.
