Statistics of Jacques Richard, a hockey player from Quebec, PQ born Oct 7 1952 who was active from 1968 to 1983.

One of the greatest QMJHL player ever, drafted 2nd overall by the Atlanta Flames.

Was a marginal 30-40 points player for 7 seasons until he signed with the Nordiques where he got 103 points. Unfortunately, his off-ice antics caught up to him and fell into obscurity shortly afterwards.

Former Nordiques coach Michel Bergeron said he may have been better than Lafleur but he had too many demons. (Alcohol and drugs)

He died in 2002 in a car accident and the age of 50.

Of all the guys who had that one massive career year, nobody had a bigger gap between his best/2nd best season than Jacques Richard.

1980-81, playing alongside two Stastnys (Peter and Anton), he scored 52 goals and 103 points.

Next best season: 17 goals and 43 points

Compare that to some other offensive one year outbursts:

Jonathan Cheechoo's 56 goal season- had 37 the following year and even the season before Jumbo Joe tied for the team lead in goals- 28- on the 04 Sharks team that made their deepest run of the pre-Thornton era.

Gary Leeman's 51 goals- had been on an upward trend...
