Blue Jays Discussion: The trade deadline approaches (Tue, Aug 2 at 6pm ET/3pm PT) and the market is taking shape

Well, all of the analysts/talking heads around our team are pretty disappointed with our deadline. We seemed to have improved a little - but less than the teams around us.

...and looks like AA has just traded for Iglesias. Sigh - wish he was still our GM.

Well it's not that rare to see players regress at 33 tbh. He's not young either far from it.

What's the rationale behind Merrifield? He can play center? I know he also has some wheels.

Very similar to Biggio but worse offense, this season, but better defence at many of the same positions. Basically provides positional flexibility.

AA was hit or miss. For every David Price he had a Dickey.

People are going to lose their minds about Frasso, but he's nearly 24 in A ball. He's doing well, but he's pretty old for the level. We got a solid #5 starter (with comparable stats to Thor) with team control out of it and what looks to be a solid infield prospect out of it as well.

That's exactly right. There's 58m over the rest of this season and the next 3.

I dunno man. .643 OPS is really ugly.

They basically played it the cheap way. Merrifield is okay but he's been awful this season but maybe history makes you optimistic. White is fine but again the cheap addition, all though giving up Frasso is odd, but got a decent prospect but Frasso was closer to ready so it doesn't really work.
Only thing I can praise is the Bass Pop trade.

He's signed for next season at 6.75m and there's an 18m mutual option for 2024.

Not sure why they are upset. Those analysts kept saying our front office is awesome so seems like they are a problem too. It's an average management group maybe even less.

Not really surprising. It's not that i don't like the deals but the team needed more that that to get out of the American league. Starting pitchers gonna be a problem in playoffs as well as 8th innings. They are okay against the weak teams but against the big boys i don't have much hope personally.
