Morosi is a moron, keeps talking about Moreno and Tiedemann. He even mentioned them for long term controllable relievers, LOL. These guys are not being traded for any name we have heard in the news outside for Soto or Ohtani. I don't think they would have done either for Castillo.
He was talking about players that other teams are likely asking for — not what the Blue Jays would actually give up.

Would make sense, saw a source say Otto Lopez could be part of the deal for Syndergaard who is currently a top 5 prospect for the Jays.

I don't think I'd even give up Lopez for him. Can't we just get like Martin Perez for even less? Or just any other 5th starter?

I'd pay for Rodon though.

Well, if you're calling about say Joe Jimenez from the Tigers, no sane human being asks about those guys.

Basically he is just saying teams like good prospects, ha. Not much else.

I think it would be too much too. I like Lopez quite a bit too but he is blocked. Someone on Twitter brought up that the Jays are under pressure with players falling off the board and teams knowing they can only go after vaccinated players. So GMs are squeezing them more than others so you might have to overpay on all your trades the closer you get to the deadline.

Another useless tweet. Had Morosi, now Heyman, just need Olney to complete the full threesome.

Here's an interesting comparison for where the 2022 Jays stand vs other competitive Jays teams in recent years on August 1st.

2015: 53-51 (51.0%)
2016: 59-46 (56.2%)
2021: 53-48 (52.5%)
2022: 57-45 (55.9%)

As long as we do something before tomorrow's deadline, this team is exactly where it's supposed to be

Lopez seems pricey for a rental but he is a guy who makes sense to trade. Almost 24 and will never be more than a bench guy for us. If he’s what is takes may as well while he still has value

Win now, bring Thor and bump Kikuchi out of here.
Maybe Thor and Iglesias in a package? Kills 2 birds with one stone there (Thor can be our #4 starter and Raisel can be a high-leverage arm in the pen). The Jays will likely keep their top top prospects (Martinez and Moreno) as well

Syndergaard probably wouldn't displace Stripling in the 4 spot. He would make for a very nice #5 though.

Gausman
Manoah
Berrios
Stripling
Syndergaard.

I think people are sleeping on how good Stripling has been this season.

Strip the Starter: 15 GS, 71.2 IP, 3.01 ERA, 2.88 FIP, 1.05 WHIP, .242 opp BA, .691 opp OPS, 19.7% K rate, 3.2% BB rate (!)

comparatively

Syndergaard this season: 15 GS, 80 IP, 3.83 ERA, 3.96 FIP, 1.21 WHIP, .240 opp BA, .683 opp OPS, 18.9% K rate, 6.1% BB rate

It's not that far apart, but Stripling has mostly been lights out and might be underperforming some of his peripherals. He deserves to keep that #4 spot until/unless someone takes it from him.

Just not a fan of his 4 inning starts though.
