If that's the price then shit i can dig it.

More on board with it after discoverer pointed out you could in theory throw Thor in the pen to add a wrinkle.

You’d still need another starter though. Need at least 3 reliable starters in a series and right now they only have two (unless you’re willing to start Stripling in Game 3).
I think Berrios would be the third right now. He seems to be back to himself.

These guys reporting Noah to us aren’t even real reporters.

That’s how I would view him here. Come playoff time, throw him into the pen and you would have Cimber/Thor/Romano finish.

The bkuh guy broke the Springer signing. Not everyone has sources everywhere but some random guys can have a guy or 2 they know who know things. Once you get one thing right and aren't tossing shit at the wall every day you get some credibility.

that would be my assumption as well. Berrios has plenty of quality starts and his numbers are really inflated by a handfull of ugly, ugly starts. He's since rebounded fairly well.

So in theory going into the postseason you have;

Manoah/Gausman as your locked in #1 and #2, Berrios as your three and then a cavalcade of Syndergaard, Stripling and Kikuchi if you want to run a four man rotation and then throw the other guys into the pen.

Personally i think Stripling backed up by one of the other guys could be an interesting option, Stripling goes 4, bring in Syndergaard to go maybe 2 or three and then pass it off to Iglesias and Romano to shut the door. Sprinkle in Garcia and Cimber when needed.

When actually typing/thinking this out...i actually kinda like this look! It gives the Jays a ton of options to mix and match with to give teams different configurations to try and figure out.

Edit: also the added bonus of having options if for whatever reason Berrios goes back into the shitter between now and october.

A long way to go still for him. Keep in mind he won’t be facing the Tigers offense in the playoffs. He has this propensity to have starts where he just spins the ball into the middle of the zone and he gets crushed.

Some rando on Twitter but had it 30-40 minutes before BKuh.

Not a big performer but he would be our 4th best starter by bWAR or fWAR;

bWAR;
Manoah: 3.3
Gausman: 1.4
Romano: 1.4
Stripling: 1.3
Syndergaard: 1.3

fWAR:

Gausman: 3.8
Manoah: 2.5
Stripling: 1.9
Syndergaard: 1.2
Romano: 0.6

Fastball Velo - mph:
Romano: 96.6
Gausman: 95.0
Kikuchi: 94.8
Garcia: 94.7
Syndergaard: 94.5

That will play in the rotation or even better in the pen as you would expect his velo to increase. But Pete Walker with this type of talent usually turns out well; Ray, and Taijuan come time mind.

Could his velocity be going up as the season goes along?

I just looked at baseball savant and Syndergaard actually touched 96 in his last start which was the fastest he had thrown in awhile.

Pressure is on Shatkins to do something now I think. Too many other teams making moves to excuse otherwise.

If he averages 94.5 of course he will occasionally hit 96

For our sake let's hope Smith doesn't do that thing where here's absolutely trash before October and then inexplicably becomes a lockdown closer once in the postseason again.

There was a lot of weirdness in the Braves world series run but that part was definitely tops lol.

Ya that's true just looked at the 2 games before that and he was mostly topping out in the 94 range.

Trying to find some optimism around the move.

We should also trade for D'Arnaud and it'll be like the Dickey trade didn't even happen. We'll need a backup catcher after we ship Kirk and Moreno to Washington for Soto anyway
Not only that, But D'Arnaud has a ring. That means intangibles or something!

Oh yeah it's all coming together.

Would make sense, saw a source say Otto Lopez could be part of the deal for Syndergaard who is currently a top 5 prospect for the Jays.

Morosi is a moron, keeps talking about Moreno and Tiedemann. He even mentioned them for long term controllable relievers, LOL. These guys are not being traded for any name we have heard in the news outside for Soto or Ohtani. I don't think they would have done either for Castillo.
