Is he modeling his game after Armia? That's who he looks like. Slow, unwilling to get in the play physically, misses the net,

Armia is an elite sniper who refuses to shoot

If anything he's doing what Laine does but without the good shot

it's ok for big guys to float sometimes if they're opportunistic, that's just normal, but sadly he's not that opportunistic partially because his brain appears to be the size of a walnut

It’s very frustrating seeing him not using his feet indeed. I would love to see him play a strong north south simple game, good things would happen because he can dish the puck when he has it.

Not even sure he need power skating lessons, because he can have jump at times it seems…

He’s never going to fill the net, but if he can score 25 it’s better than 15 or 20. We’ll need those extra goals. For that, he needs to hustle, use his body to drive the net, and, yes he can’t get around this: shoot the puck.

You forgot to add an LOL

and yet they signed him for big coin
will he pick it up and change before his big check comes?

You don't just magically turn it around. it would be different if he was engaged and getting chances, ringing things off the post, making rushes up the ice. The kid is not interested at all

Ideally, he takes the puck from the board powers himself into a scoring position and shoots. That’s the whole f***ing point of being a power forward. IDK what he’s doing, what management is doing, what the skill development squad is doing. No progress. Hire a shooting coach: doesn’t even ever use his shot. No progress. What’s the point?

Remember last year when Slaf was the king of Montreal, and management knocked it out of the park with that choice?

I think I recall that...

Remember last year, if you had criticized this player or management's decision to keep him in NHL, you would be torn to pieces on this forum?

I think I recall that, too.

He’s just gliding out there just waving his stick all over the place

Tbf,

He has 60.8 million reasons to just chill out there.

After all,

Slaf is a chill guy.

He’s trending for 5 or 6 goals this season and shoots the volume of a 4th liner. We should expect more even from a top-6 playmaker.

He has a hard time to find a line to shoot the puck. For a first overall pick, his lack of skills is concerning. Atleast if he was playing with intensity he could be useful but hes just gliding and not doing much on the ice.

There is no lack of skill. He has plenty, he's shown it. The issue is purely pace and intensity. He isn't putting himself in positions to have the space to shoot or use his stickhandling. But look at his best moments and his skill is undeniable - shot, stickhandling, passing.

What's his salary next year again ? Is it too early to be worried about his next contract ?
In hindsight, it would have been better to wait until the 24-25 mid-season to sign this contract extension. What was the urgency?

His shot for such a big guy is disappointing.
Stickhandling is non existent
He makes nice passes but often he rush his passes and make a bad turnover.
He has the size to impose his will, retrieve puck and go in the danger zone. Hopefully he figures it out.
