Speculation: The search for a new Head Coach - (Ducks to hire Joel Quenneville: Per Dreger)

I think what would be satisfactory from my perspective in terms of a "background check" and due diligence starts with Kyle Beach himself making a public statement OF HIS OWN FREE WILL that Quenneville should be given a second chance.

No bones about words exchanged in private. Quenneville needs to be cleared without a shadow of a doubt, and if Beach isn't willing to do that publicly (and he very much has valid reasons not to), then I really don't see why we put ourselves in the position of extending the first olive branch.
He already did. He gave Q his blessing to coach again in the NHL. I wouldn't expect him to do it again. Leave the guy alone you know.

This should make people drop the issue already.
I feel the same and have said it since day 1. The victims opinions is by far the most important. He has every reason to not want to see Q coach again. He doesn't benefit from giving that blessing at all. In fact, it puts himself at risk of it blowing up in his face if Q f***s up again.

I still would have preferred they go with someone without the baggage, but here we are.

the ducks PR team better be ready because they've never had to deal with anything close to the shitstorm that's about to hit

I feel terrible for the mid-20s social media people who are going to get screamed at whenever the team officially announces the decision on Twitter.

But yes, Steve Brown and the media relations department are gonna be bombarded

That's according to a tweet made by his daughter, so you're gonna have to forgive me if I want that information corroborated by someone more unbiased than that (if I've missed that somewhere I'd be happy to hear about it).

I agree that Kyle has the right not to talk about this ever again, but I personally don't think anything short of that would be enough for me to be comfortable with Q.

You really think his daughter is ‘covering for him’ in a way? Give me a break! :eyeroll:

Thats fair and yes it would be ideal to hear it from Beach himself, but I think it's also fair to say his daughter likely did not make something like that up that Beach can easily say "f*** no I didn't" right?

What shitstorm?

How do I put this correctly? We are a team that’s on the West Coast that really has next to no ‘public’ exposure. It’s probably the best place for him to be honestly
and this is exactly the type of move that will bring exposure to a franchise that never gets any of it. there are going to be a lot of unhappy people, both ducks fans and non-ducks fans

Also, I know it sucks to bring up, but let’s be honest: despite the best efforts of the podcast brigade and some Twitter users and die-hards like us to try and deter it, this is probably the only market in the league that Quenneville could even think about resurfacing in. He can exist in relative obscurity here without being hounded by people not named Derek Lee every night

Do you not see the inherent problem behind a coach needing such conditions?

Beach could have done it, but if he came right out and said he DOESN'T absolve Quenneville after that, it more than likely invites comments from the kind of people who made him stay quiet for so long and will absolutely bring back that associated trauma.

It's too much grey for me personally.
