Finland automatically wins, the rest of the teams are DQ'ed for surpassing the Salary Limit. :sarcasm:

I didn't expect such a huge drop off for Finland though, would've thought they'd be around the 30-40 range along with most other nations.

Salary cap won't work because players don't get paid to play in the Olympics and player salaries from their teams depend on where(what country) they play in.

Wow, team Finland would be pretty damn good in the NHL and they'd still have $12M left to spend!

I'm surprised Canada is so much higher than everyone else, but when your two backup goalies make $10M I guess it adds up pretty quickly.

It was a joke. :sarcasm:

Most of the Finns in the NHL are underpaid so its not surprising

A lot of the big name Canadians are paid hefty contracts so Im not surprised at that astronomical figure.

Im actually really surprised that the min. salary in the Swiss league is so good. No wonder a lot of NHLers went there to play

400'000 is the highest salary in the swiss league, the average for national team players is probably around 200'000

Good point on the Yankers comparison. Best thing I've seen from baseball lately is catching babies falling from burning buildings. Anytime you can measure contracts in a sizable fraction of a billion dollars, you know something has jumped the shark. I was at the game whan Gretzky signed his big deal with 'Peter Puck' in '79. That was a big deal at an exiting time in the game. Now it seems to be an expectation...

The Slovaks have a higher salary base than the Finns?

They both are at the bottom of the Top-7 though. Real bargains, given their 4-0 records.
