We dont need someone to learn here. There is nothing to learn from the group of never-has-beens they have in the front office. The idea of Staal is preposterous.

Need someone to come in and fix the organization.
Why does it have to be either/or?

I think it is extremely shortsighted to complain about the Staal hire from that point of view.

From my view, Rochester underperformed under Appert. It seemed they always had to grind to sneak into the crowded AHL playoffs, despite my perception that they had a good team. They had the 1 playoff run where they went sort of deep.
He always gets credit for developing all these players too... who? That is like the Granato and Rololston fallacy.

They were better this season under Leone, and they had better seasons in '18-19 and the covid season just before Appert took over.
That last playoff run with Appert was some of the worst playoff hockey I have ever seen. The Amerks were wildly underprepared and could not even breakout of their damn zone.
Question: If they insist Appert is taking over after this season and Adams is out after crashing and burning what GM candidate is going to want a job where he can't hire his own coach?
Eric Staal, Jerry Forton, or Matt Ellis.

If the team traded Dahlin and Tage to the Leafs for a 5th round pick it would not cause me the levels of hopelessness and despair that hiring this decrepit fossil would. This would be the final nail in the coffin of the Sabres (and Amerks as LOOOOOOOOU is the AHL version of Ted Bundy).

Darche is going to get a job eventually right? Always interviewing, good track record.

@sabremike

Can you give us a detailed description of LL's time with the Isles, from someone who gets the national and local news? Love to get your perspective on him. Thanks in advance!
Chain pretty much summed it up perfectly. Any "success" was the result of Trotz being the best coach of the past quarter century. Bridgeport was one of the worst teams in AHL history and won FOUR home games all season.
