Youngest team in the league with a ton of talent just getting into their prime

One of the all-time winningest coaches coming back to the team and city he loves with something to prove and everything to give - and bringing structure, heart, toughness, and actual game plans.

A beast of a 1C who is coming back strong and focused after playing injured almost all last season.

Another beast of a 2C coming off a legendary WC and getting a new coach who will know exactly how to use him.

A real legit 1D who scores, hits, munches minutes, will skate through a wall to win, and will be taking the mantle of C that has been his destiny - and giving the Sabres a captain finally who is our best player and who wants to lead Buffalo to the playoffs and beyond.

Two more young D with 1D potential on any team who are going to get real coaching and are just finding out how good they can be.

A real fourth line who may be both faster and more willing to hit than anyone else on the roster and will wear down teams with speed and toughness - and you know Ruff is going to use them.

A legit 3C who can come out of McDavid's and Drai's shadow and know his role and thrive.

Sammy coming back healthy and ready to cobra-strike.

Quinn coming back healthy and ready to dominate after giving us a taste at how good he is

Tuch and Peterka and Benson ready to turn the ice and pop in the most goals in their young careers.

A true #1 goalie who was as good as anyone in the last half of last season and gives the Sabres a real chance to win every night.

A young #2 goalie who might be even better and more dominant.

A veteran #3 who may start in Buffalo and even if an injury happens we're not done.

A tough and productive training camp to come that will have the Sabres prepared to start the season.

A coach who will NOT let us snooze our way through the first half of games and then try to come back because they will be conditioned and prepared.

A wealth of riches in the pipeline and the very real chance someone will surprise this training camp and EARN a spot because no more spots are given.

LET'S GO!

Don't think there's much I can say that isn't addressed in the OP lol... but the biggest strength is obviously offense. This group has the ability to pop off any night and can throw with any team in the league.

IMO, the moves this offseason were about indirectly addressing the top 6's weaknesses (preparation/consistency in coaching, defense in the revamped bottom 6 taking the tough assignments, etc) and letting them focus on their strengths, rather than replacing the top 6. These are our guys.

There’s only five of them

If we have 5/6's of an NHL top 6, especially this young and with this much potential, ready to blow up in the right situation... I'm not really sweating a kid like Benson figuring out the last spot after what he showed last year. Or whoever looks better than him in camp.

I think people don't trust the 5 though, which is probably fair after last year, but a different problem that's less realistic to solve in any given offseason.

Young team. Should be able to push really hard and tire out other teams.
Defence. 2 first overalls and a 4th overall. Puck moving by defence good. Three d that can point the pp.
All players still not at their peak. They still are improving.
Spares. We have spares and players that can step in. Kulich, Rosen, Johnson
Coach Ruff. Head coach will immediate street cred. Not a new coach. An established one. Knows how to win. Knows how to manage personalities. Knows how to establish his style of play

Potential needs to convert to results
