He also said many or most Oc still call the same plays. He just has his preference from his playing days

Bad play design and poorly timed plays are the hallmark of Canada’s offense for two years now.

He’s not a fit NFL OC. Been pointing this out to you for 27 games now and nothing has changed.

Tomlin f***ed up and kept him around and it’s had extremely negative consequences.

Good thing for Tomlin never has to worry about being accountable for what he does though.

Which leaves me completely baffled and feeling like the year to watch him was almost a waste. And wondering whether they should nab a top quarterback if they are there. I am no closer to an answer now than I was before KP's first game.

I feel reasonably sanguine about this at least. Either he'll become good enough and it's fine, or he won't and there'll be more opportunities than this coming off-season. There's too many holes for a mediocre QB to go anywhere else here, before we even consider coaching one way or t'other, unless they have a shockingly good draft.

It'll still feel a big question if a big time QB prospect is there to be picked, but building around Pickett feels fine. If it works great, if it doesn't, the next QB gets a better landing spot.

Because the same play designs he uses are staples in basic west coast offense heck the plays Warner are talking about he ran under Martz.
Even the best play caller Shanahan only has 9 wins without Jimmy G it takes decent Qb play and good execution which they aren’t getting. Claypool said they were running Fitchner offense last year this his first full year as an OC using his plays

All these people are laughing at Canader..not with him. I don't think you understand the joke the Steelers are becoming.

How many times do you have to hear, not from me, but others who know this game point out Canada is a bad playcaller who has a shitty designed offense before this sinks in?

Once again, when Roth called the plays and ran things his way, the offense moved and put up points with the exact same personnel.

Canada is not NFL level. The evidence and massive red flags are overwhelming.

I know it’s difficult to admit being wrong when you defended this dude so long, but cmon now damn.

Despite the bad title, Trestman is echoing many positives about KP:

“Based on the tape of the last three games, it is apparent that Kenny Pickett has the skillset and intangibles confirming his first-round status and starting position with the Steelers,”

By his evaluation, Pickett has the arm talent to make all the throws an NFL quarterback needs to make, he has “tremendous” throwing mechanics, and good toughness.

praised his ability to extend plays with his legs, go through his progressions and his pocket awareness.

Trestman also mentioned KP’s biggest issue is throwing balls in the dirt, which is the same issue I have with him right now (worm burners).

Also went on to mention he needs time in the off-season to work out timing issues and such which he didn’t get to do in camp.

Again I know he didn’t play dek hockey for the Shaler Helldogs in 1989 like Madden, but Trestman kind of has some clout to.

Anybody who wants to move from from Kenny - Stroud is NOT that guy.
Yeah he is a Ohio state Qb he will be a bust they all do. There’s no real great Qb in this class and some scouts still say KP would be 4th if was in this draft and 5th if he was in Lawrence draft. I am just going to give him til the end of next season and decide if Qb is in play for 24 draft class Maye in NC Williams at USC Allar at Penn state

Again I don’t care if Canada is fired or not ever year fans want to fire the oc or coach. If KP is going to work in the nfl it’s in a RPo Dolphins 49 ers system offense. If he has Dak Tua Cousins Jimmy g ceiling like people say build the best team around him go all in while he is on the rookie contract

While there are issues with certain position groups on the roster, it’s not like this squad is talentless and leaving Pickett hung out there. The issue is that players are not getting adequate coaching.

KP doesn’t need an RPO offense to succeed. He needs good coaching and an experienced OC.

Once again, how does anyone expect an OC who has struggled in the NFL and never had any success, to help a rookie QB?

It’s the blind leading the blind so to speak.

It’s illogical on every front.

I’m not advocating for Stroud or anything, but the whole he went to OSU so he’ll bust is really bad logic. They haven’t actually had many highly regarded QBs. OSU has had two guys drafted in recent memory in rounds where they were supposed to be anything more than just a dart throw.

Haskins ended up not working out but was a mid first round guy with a lot of question marks so he wasn’t seen as a mega prospect or anything. It remains to be seen on Fields but he looks like he’s on his way to not being a bust.

KP needs a running game to succeed, and it's not going to happen under Canada.

He needs an offense that hides lack of arm strength his lack of ability to throw deep. In college under whipple he was able to throw to wide open Wr he doesn’t have the strength to fit it tight windows constantly. He needs to be on the move and run more. He needs to anticipate and read defenses pre snap to he can throw it early in the windows like Mac Jones. West coast and RPo are the best for him.

He didn’t have a running game in college he didn’t use play action in college

College and the pros are two completely different animals.

Fields the runner might not be a bust but the passer is. He is going to need a hurts type year 3 jump as a passer.
It doesn’t matter what round you take an OSU Qb they are busts. Day designs the offense with wide open Wr and never asks QBs to go through progressions. Meyer recruited running QBs first over passers

Yeah that’s why the offense he is in has to hide his limitations. San Francisco and Miami don’t ask there QBs to throw it deep they ask them to throw it with in 15 yards of the scrimmage attacking the middle of the field. Get your guys in space.

I don't think anyone is asking him to throw it deep. But being able to hit all parts of the field is important. He's not able to do that if the run isn't respected.

QBs drafted in the later rounds aren’t busts. No one is expecting them to be anything. So basically all OSU QBs are busts boils down to Haskins not working out.

Someone better let KC know they shouldn’t have drafted Mahomes because he came from an air raid offense. Or let Buffalo know they shouldn’t have drafted Allen because he’s from Wyoming. Or so on or so on or so on.

It doesn’t matter where a player goes to school. If they can play, they can play.

So why does the run need to respected for him to use the entire field? Against Cincinnati his only completions over the middle of the field where to DJ within 10 yards of the scrimmage. There been windows to throw to Wr in the middle of the field all year without a running game. He is so afraid of throwing interceptions he ignores the middle of the field

Because if we can run, it has to be respected. Right now it's not.

I think 95% of people can see that we have serious need to adjust the coaching across all fronts. The issue is the 5% unwilling are in charge of making said decisions.

No sense in evaluating KP fully until he has an offseason with a new OC to begin pondering future success. He's in about as bad a situation a rookie QB could be in. He's got awful play calling with no run support.

We need to start showcasing Diontae so we can trade him for a good return in the offseason

I mean I'm no HS OC like Canada, but it sure seems obvious that we should be running at least a few slants with him every single drive.
