On Lebowski's rug
After reading Blake and GrumpyCat Todd talk about the "other" players that now need to step up and earn a roster spot going forward. I thought we needed a place to talk about it.
They(Blake and Todd) mentioned Amadio, Wagner, Lizotte, Moore and Prokhorkin.
I've been very disappointed in Amadio. The guy has been invisible with 2 points(assists) in his last 22 games and has gone 30 games without a goal. But, he reminds me of Moulson, in that I'm hesitant to move him and see him breakout with another team because we were too impatient. But man, the guy needs to step up. I recommend sitting him a game or 2. Give him some perspective. I say they keep him moving forward, though on a shorter leash.
Wagner is ok, but he has speed. He's fine for what he is and that's a 4th line speed and check guy. He's young and possibly there's more. Without his speed, he's not in the NHL.
Lizotte is great. Was hoping he'd score a little more often, but his puck hounding skills are outstanding.
Moore is good on Lizotte's wing. I like the 2 together and hopefully they are part of a good 3rd-4th line.
Pro has fallen off a cliff since grumpy cat benched him. The guy is a way better player than he's shown the last few weeks. I'm not confident he's with LA next season. Just a hunch, maybe he goes back home, maybe he's dealt, maybe he sticks around.
Frk, I like. Keep firing away man.

I think they're set on RHD in DD8, Roy and Walker. Though it would be nice to add a more ready guy than Durzi for next season.
LHD is all up in the air. Curious what "other guys" are brought in or if they sign Hutton and/or Ryan. I like BigMac and think he's earned his spot for next season.

Guys pushing for spots next season.
Grundstrum
Luff
JAD
Clague
Bjornfot
Anderson
Eyssimont
Moverare
Brickley

I think Hults, Phillips, Durzi, Strand, Kupari, Sodergran, Dudas and Thomas are in Ontario.

Sorry about the long post and my rambling thoughts.

Among the tweener forwards, they need to make a decision on the following RFAs this summer. I think QOs have to be submitted following the draft.

Prokhorkin
Wagner
Grundstrom
Luff
———
Rhempal

All these guys project as wingers, except maybe Pro. So you have to look at junior prospects who could be challenging for contracts. I think those could be Ahkil Thomas and Aiden Dudas. So one and possibly two of the RFAs may not be qualified if there is a crunch on SPCs.

Rhempal and Luff will be the guys who have the most to prove at the AHL level. Grundstrom is in there, but has more rope given he was drafted. Rhempal at 24 yo is the guy most likely to go in the offseason.

I just want to see Pro on Kopi's LW for one f***en game before this damn season is over for f***s sake!!

Of this group, I think Wagner is the most likely guy to be on the Kings in three years. Even if he never improves any other facet of his game, he has game-breaking speed and he's a bit of a prick. Those two things can't really be taught. He's only 22, so he's got a lot of learning still to do.

The most disappointing is Amadio. I don't think he's played with many of the Kings' better players, but I don't know that he's really earned the chance to, either. Early in the season, he was tenacious on pucks and kind of looked like a mini Mike Richards without the physicality, but now he looks like a mini Trevor Lewis without the physicality, and I don't know what to do about it. He's still young too, but with guys like Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Akil Thomas, and Alex Turcotte on their way over the next two years, I'm not sure if he's long for this team. He needs to step up soon if he wants a chance.

Grundstrom hasn't even had his shot yet. I think he'll end up being a third- or fourth-line guy.

Prokhorkin likely moves on. He'll center Kubalik next season and rack up 70 assists.

Luff reminds me an awful lot of Johnny Brodzinski, decent shot but doesn't bring much else.

I don't really know enough about Rempal.

Here's my ideal lineup in three years:

Lafreniere - Vilardi - Kaliyev
Turcotte - Kopitar - Fagemo
Iafallo - Thomas - Kupari
Wagner - Anderson-Dolan - Grundstrom
