The Oilers are an old team

Whoever is off to a slow start on the Oilers is going to have a big night tonight. Sullivan's disfunctional Penguins are the slump-buster every player needs.

I think it will be good when the Oilers are on the road. They have played 6 of the first 8 at home and going on the road might be good thing to get away and build some cohesiveness.

We obviously haven't been good enough. We did play great against the Canes but lost. We played great against Dallas but lost. Luckily we pulled away last night.

Nonetheless, Calgary is on top! LA is in 3rd. Meanwhile, the Oilers/AVs/Preds are all at the bottom of the heap... I don't see it staying that way after 82 games.

Wow you’re right, Oilers can only beat dysfunctional teams right? Straight from Oilers fans mouths. Glad y’all are coming around to reality.

The Oilers should try getting Iiro Pakarinen back. Dude is lighting up the FEL, 21 goals in 19 games so far, just an otherwordly pace. He might be a product of his team mate Jori Lehterä, though (29 assists in 19 games), and not find a playmaker as good in Edmonton. ;)

Edit: make that 22 goals, a hattrick so far today

The Pens were wise to let go of the 2024 1st rounder. They’ll want to keep their own firsts for a while. That’s a truly terrible team.

Troy Stetcher and Ty Emberson really should not be playing for a team with Stanley Cup aspirations. Even worse, they traded mid-round picks to bring these guys in when realistically neither is any better than any random waiver guy you can pick up. I know that's not much but still. I'm sure they're just holding spots until they can work up enough cap space to trade for someone else, but still that's just going to be more assets out the door. Reflective of the Oilers really bad cap management even with Draisaitl and Bouchard are playing on great bargain deals.

Crazy how their special teams has gone ice cold. 29th in PP%, 32nd in PK%.
Thats what happens when you remove half the roster you had last year and bring in new players. Holloway, Broberg, Ceci, Mcleod, Foegele etc. Thats too much changes for a team that went to the finals.

Should get Ethan Bear back. Oh and he's a RHD so how fitting. He would also be their #4Dman
Not a bad idea but tbh I think Hershey might be the best spot for him at the moment. Read an interview with him from over the summer and it sounds like he’s been through a lot and is just now coming out on the other side.

In Hershey he’s able to take some time to find his game again and more importantly get his mind right. Not sure the high stakes/pressure/scrutiny that comes with being in Edmonton would be the best situation for him right now.

Oilers top 6 aren't old at all. McDavid, Drai, Pod, Kapanen, Hyman , RNH.

They have guys like Bouch, Emberson, Nurse and Kulak aren't old , Skinner isn't old. Where the f is this coming from ? Like 3 guys are increasing the average age tremendously, other than that not old. Fast as fxxx boy though. Just ask the Wild when the Oilers show up, what it's like.
