If you really want to pay homage to the talent that was Lemieux, dont post the highlights... post the horrid obstruction, holding, and hacking that the league allowed on him after that amazing playoff game that he scored 8 points in and they realized prime Lemieux was going to be unstoppable.... two goons dragging off his back with hooks and the relentless crosschecks to his lower back near the goal... the hand slashes....
People don’t understand that the clutch and grab era didn’t spring up overnight... it grew slowly over a decade from the tactics used to stop Mario, because the league hated a french superstar in a small market american city...

Best player I've seen with my own eyes, by far (I was too young for prime Gretzky).

Sometimes he looked awkward but the puck always found a way into the night. And other times, out of nowhere, with a dude acting like a backpack, he would deke another dude and put it in.

I was young too, but even looking at highlights, the things Lemieux did the way he did wasn't even close. Gretzky was also a phenomenal player, but he got a lot more of a free ride than Mario! Just look at the abuse with stick infractions made towards him, and then that goal against the North Stars just makes you fall off your chair!
