Bergeron should be going for his 4th straight Selke tonight. It'll be frustrating if they give it to Toews again. Kopitar I could stand, but not Toews.

Does a 4th really matter at this stage?

He's won it enough times, his reputation is established.

It's more about how he'll be remembered in history. If he deserves to win it, then he should win. Bergeron and Toews will most likely be tied in total Selke wins after tonight. I think that's absurd.

Why is that absurd?

Consensus is they are the 2 best defensive forwards in the game and its very close.

Yes, I will watch after my daughter's soccer game, it is cringeworthy but always good for some water cooler talk and/or Internet memes. Being in Las Vegas with expansion in the works, I'm interested to see how they address it, or will they totally ignore it?

Yeah. He will battle the first team C with Tavares and it might not be completely out of reach for Crosby to snatch the 1st Team spot. Unlikely though. He's at least going to be 2nd Team C.

As for the Hart voting, I could see him being as high as 4th. But not lower than 5th. So, we are on the same page.

I'm hoping he gets the 1st team. Come away with something at least

So, this happened at the 1988 NHL Awards.

Some folks like to live in the Rockies
Some live by the sea
Now, me, I love the lakes
I just can't get enough

Some boys make their lives playing hockey
Some get on TV
Everybody here gets a chance to shine

We got a mixed bag
Of voters on the right
They're taking on the Liberals
We love a good fight

We got Mulroney
Staying up in Ottawa
Talking to the ministers
He's working on a plan tonight

They'd better get it right
Because

It's Canada
We are family
Arms open wide
Friends you can count on

Canada
Save a place for me
I'm coming home
Leave me a light on

EH!

Be!

You know that our beer's just as good as Germans'
Michael Fox is our Peewee Herman
Magic Johnson has some moves, but so does Gretz

Some say 99 is the limit
Some say Mario ought to win it
Me, I love the times we beat the Soviets

You're from BC, you're driving in Quebec
You're trying to read the signs, you're on a one-way street

You got a mountie
He's writing up a ticket
Hey, we got rules
Except for Yonge Street, Friday night!

I'm on saying it's wrong or right

But it's all

Canada
We are family
Arms open wide
Friends you can count on

Canada
Save a place for me
I'm coming home
Leave me a light on

Yes, we'll take your U.S. money
Martin Short is very funny
Brian Orser, what a skater
P.E.I. -- all those potatoes

Grey Cup games
Ten degrees
[???]
Studebaker
Diefenbaker
[???]
Carroll Baker

Canada's strong and free
Please save a place for me

I'm not sure what I... just watched

...I will never be the same...

...he countered Eh with B

...I smell burnt toast

+the shared Jennings with Crawford.

Id actually expect him to sweep. Vezina is easily his, Hart should be too. Only question mark is the Lindsay, and I think the players probably have it to him too.

I think Ek won the Norris, biggest question mark for me is the calder.

Sens Twitter pretty much confirmed Daniel Alfredsson is presenting the Calder, so Mark Stone has that one. The Norris is kinda in flux, they were doing interviews with Doughty all yesterday so you never know.

The NHL award show is as useless as the NHL All Star game. It has no entertainment value imo.

but for those who like watching it, enjoy the nonsense.

People watch it because of the akward cheesecringe factor. I don't think anybody's impressed by the "show" itself.

Too much NA:s in these awards. That's why I think it's so boring and uninteresting.

The only thing that would make this awards interesting if Karlsson wins a very well-deserved second norris. But with all biased North Americans out there I wouldn't be surprised if Karlsson is robbed.

Go Erik Karlsson!

how would Karlsson be robbed? Subban put up 60 pts (6 less than Karlsson) while having much better defensive statistics.

i expect the players to be salty that a goalie won the Hart (because forwards dont have an award of their own) so they'll probably give the Lindsay to Ovi

You say that like he doesn't deserve it as well?

Most valuable to team - Understandable that a goalie who had a Price like season deserves it.

Most Outstanding Player - The only player to cross 50 goals, beat the next player by 10 goals, 4th in points. Ovechkin has a claim to most outstanding.

This is what bugs me. The Selke (like the other awards) is not a career award. It's handed out every year. I hear writers say "one of these years we have to give so-and-so a Selke." If he is the best THAT YEAR, then yes. But don't give it to somebody just because another finalist has won it multiple times. Didn't Bobby Orr win the Norris seven or eight years in a row?
