I think this draft should have a focus on defensemen. Our defensive pipeline is essentially Michael Benning and not much else imo.

But like others said, I’d still take a goalie as well.
Hovorka and Alscher both had decent rookie years in Charlotte too:

I disagree, Shuravin looks like a stud and I've seen independent agencies rank him near the top of our pool. Alscher also looks very good, I'd be surprised if he didn't become an NHLer. He's the prototypical big, rangy, mobile stay at home D that blocks a lot of shots and throws the body. Very strong in his own end. Hovorka also had a good season. He skates so well for such a big man, it's almost unbelievable. I have to think the Panthers love that about him with the way they play. Albert Wikman and Ludvig Jansson could also break through although they are longer shots.

I wonder if they will sign Brett Chorske, or at least have Charlotte give him an AHL deal like with McLinskey. He's 6'7", 216. Huge boy who seems to be a late bloomer at 24, had about a ppg for Colgate this season. Had 3 goals 1 assist in 8 games for Charlotte. And 2G 1A in 12 playoff games, including 1 G in the Final. His father Tom was an NHLer and won a Cup with the Devils in '95.
