they had to of thought they had it last year and then boom they learned how quickly that can change.
Hope they stay hungry because last night was one of the greatest leafs games Ive ever watched since atleast the Sundin era

I really think it is, I was telling my friends, this was a different team. They look determined, they look hungry. Tampa is going to win a game so they can’t let this series get away from them.

That was domination from beginning to end in reality, blocked by so many f***ing penalty calls. Tampa offered nothing after the first 5 minutes or so.

Fun game! I feel Kerfoot was an unsung hero, yet again. He was heavily involved in the PK all game, and seemed to be noticeable in the offensive zone.

I'd say the PK in the 2nd period was when the game felt like it was going to be a win. The Bolts bench looked shocked and dejected. They just couldn't get set up. I think it got to them.

Playoff Rielly is always so good. Not that he isn’t in the regular season, but dude just knows how to elevate. Kerfoot as well.

I think Nylander was all over that game last night but his timing was just slightly off. He could’ve had 3 goals fairly easily imo

Matthews, Marner and Campbell all with big time performances as well. Campbell wasn’t overly busy, but when called on he made the timely saves which is all we need.

Let’s go get game 2!

Besides the obvious standouts like Soups shutout, Marner and Matthews dominance, I loved more than a few things last night..

Highlights and good signs....

Muzzin with a goal, lead the teams in hits and was blocking shots. This is playoff Muzzin we’ve missed.

Engvall was Corsi King last night and drove Bolts crazy with his anger face

Tavares dominated the faceoff dot

Kampf led all forwards in ice time, obviously the PK was outstanding and made Hedman look like an old man on his short handed goal.

Very weird game.

Even with a hefty dose of game management penalties …. Nothing.

Pains me to say this but congrats on game 1. Missed this one watching my bruins lose to a very good Canes team. The leafs match up well against Tampa. So there is a chance they make it to 2nd round.

Honestly the Perry sucker punch is the most suspension worthy. Throwing a bomb on a guy with the official between you when he doesn't know you're in a fight is an easy game, but again, it won't get a second look

That's what he does.....did it in junior too. Punch and run, or just dive and flop around like a dead fish.

Good call on Muzzin in particular. That’s a big underlying story, our D is awesome if he’s on his game.

What more could we have asked for? The Leafs were relentless all night giving Tampa little room or space. The key players produced and the fans were incredible. Now we have to duplicate this effort.

Kudos to everyone that was in the building. We've taken a lot of heat in the past for a mild crowd. Not last night. Thats the kind of energy we need all postseason. This team is great but they can be legendary with that kind of support!

If you think that Tampa came out with vengeance last night, I have a bridge to sell you. This game was a combination of us playing amazing as well as them playing like shit. Which is why it wasn't close at all.

Fully expect that game two is going to look completely different because this is the 2 time Stanley cup champions. They know how to win and what it takes. I fully expect a message to be sent by them game two.

If they do not do that and it's lopsided again then something is seriously wrong in their locker room.

3 point night from Marner in Game 1 is all I needed to see to believe that this year is different. Whether we ultimately win this series or not, this Leafs team is outstanding from top to bottom.

The Lightning will bounce back, they are far too good and experienced not to. But the Leafs acquitted themselves well last night and showed they have what it takes to compete with the champs. 3 points each from Matthews and Marner, 2 from Rielly and a SO from Campbell *chef's kiss*. Keep the momentum going, boys! GLG!
