Skinner let us down last night but blaming the game 2 loss on him doesn't really make sense. We only scored one goal. Your goalie shouldn't have to pitch a shutout to win.

Yeah unfortunately when it gets to this stage if you don't have hot goaltending, you lose. We got out of 2 rounds with pretty meh goaltending, this is when it actually starts to show. Against the Avs was another example of that as well.

There is a serious cost of poor scouting/management, both in pro and amateur. Holland had 5 years to try to make a big slash with a trade to fix goaltending. He just tossed the high UFA bids at Marky and Campbell like Holland always does to try to fix problems. Lucky Marky didn't come here, because he might be a buyout cap hit now along with buried Campbell.

Think Brian Burke said that Hockey should be renamed "Goalie". How it goes lots of years when you are down to the best teams, best goalie wins, or at least best performing goalie. Guys get hot out of nowhere too. Who saw Adin Hill going Hasek and putting up a performance that would win a Smythe most years.

Only Cup winner I can think of the last 10 years with mediocre goaltending is the Avs. Otherwise the goalie was one of the better ones in the playoffs

Yeah, another one that comes to mind is Osgood. Sometimes a team can just be crazy good and survive with just an above average guy. Can't with a straight face say we have an equivalent team to ones like Avs/Detroit cup winners.

Shesterkin is such a massive weapon. The Rangers have been largely outplayed at even strength the last 2 series but when you THAT guy back there, you're always going to have a big advantage.
