The Kings Off-Season Prediction Game!

Was thinking this would be a great idea and fun. The Off-Season prediction game.

Categories:

1. trades (choose 3 possible Kings and 3 possible players coming here)
2. signings (2 categories: free agents and king re-signings)
3. draft (1st round only. 29th overall. 3 choices for that pick)

1. Trades.

Since it is almost impossible to call an exact trade, just choose
up to 3 players on the Kings you think could be dealt.
No specific order. Also choose 3 players that may end up in a deal
coming here. Do not make it overly complicated by adding draft picks,
what team the player goes to,etc. Just 3 possible Kings dealt and 3 possible player acquisitions. You can include anyone in the org. You can also call 'no king dealt' and if you are right, 5 points to you. Also, you can state 'no player acquired' and get 5 points.
However, even a minor league player going or coming counts as a traded player.

5 points for ANYTHING called correctly. I may make changes if anyone helps
improve this game and point system. I just want to keep it somewhat simple
and easy to play.

ex: Kings dealt:
Nolan, King, Vey

coming to Kings: Tim Gleason, etc. etc,

2. Signings.

A. Free agents. 3 choices.
ex. Penner (no!!!) , Dan Boyle (no!!!), Brian Gionta (no!!!)

B. King resignings. (up to 3 choices. No contract specifics in yrs or $, please)

ex. Muzzin (new extension), Martinez (new extension), Gaborik

3. 2014 Draft

Kings select #29. Now, they could deal the pick, or trade up perhaps.
We can make that part of this. However, you still pick 3 players.
5 points for correct player, 3 additional points if you call the pick dealt.
Do not call the team traded with or overall pick #. Too difficult.

ex. #29 McKeown, Pastrnak, Scherbak

or: 'pick traded up' player: Larkin, Kempe, Tuch

Since Draft is in 2 weeks and then free agency is July 1, and trades can happen
anytime...let's say the game ends by July 20, to make this a 1 month 'to the day' game. Obviously trades can happen after that, but this seems ok to me.

Depending on where the cap goes, what about Stralman? Let Green and Mitchell walk. As much as I love both of them Green has no foot speed left and Mitchell is right up against the end of his career.

It's a joke. Richards isn't going anywhere ESPECIALLY after winning the Cup. Possibly next year if he has another poor year and the Kings flame out early, but to be completely honest, I see the Kings making another deep run.

I agree he is not leaving this summer. But I disagree about next summer, like I said in another post 80% he is on the team this coming fall, 80% he is not the following fall. Just to many more key players that will need to be signed.

As for this game,

Kings will re-sign Mitchell to a 1 year deal around what he currently makes, re-sign King for about $1.8-2.1

Draft: Jack Dougherty from the NTDP. Wisconsin is a factory for producing NHL defenseman. Let him play 3 years there and he should be ready to contribute.

Until the deadline where if hes not signed you send him out for a cheap replacement and picks. I think hes not going to sign unless he becomes a 4th defense man. Hes not going to accept being a healthy scratch and being benched for things he sees others doing. Sorry don't see him staying here unless he gets top 4 mins.

And honestly guys I'm hoping we dont make any big changes, let Nolan and Greene go but keep the family intact. Two kids can replace them, McNabb/Vey/Andreoff.

I have a hard time believing it's a fact, especially when we don't even know what the cap will be. Besides, as I have already mentioned on numerous posts, I don't see both Amart and VV remaining with the kings.

I'm thinking Nolan is gone so we can call up Andreoff or Vey. Other than that and one or both of Greene/Mitchell going.

I honestly don't think Martinez will be in la after next season and it doesn't have anything to do with cap space. Look at the way the kings have treated him. Healthy scratch a lot. Having his ice time cut for not back checking and taking bad penalty and yet while seeing other have there time increase while doing the same. I think Alec needs to be top 4 or he will be gone regardless of cash if not given a fair shot. Player want to play and Alec has proved enough to play that.

I think it's a little premature to say that Martinez will be gone. Lombardi has done a great job analyzing the talent he has on the team and keeping the core guys who really matter. Also, I believe Sutter is coming around on the guy...Martinez played a key role in the latter half of the season. Let's see how it plays out. I was surprised to find out that he was only +1 in the playoffs and Greene was a +5.

IMHO, we need to keep Mitchell above all else. I think he is a key part of the defensive corps on this team and had a +10 in the playoffs. When we bring on new guys like McNabb or whoever else, need a good blend of veteran leadership.
