GBU The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Under Powered, Under Manned, But Not Defeated - 4-2 Win in Colorado 12/15/2022

It makes no sense that EROD is good enough to play on the top line of elite teams, but wasn't good enough to crack our non playoff lineup

Maybe roster decisions like that is why we failed to make the playoffs for so many years
you forgot we had some terrific coaches to pair with otherworldly GM talent

Another solid goaltending outing, UPL looked alright tonight. I hope to continue to see more of this consistently from the goaltenders.
It almost looks like Donnie is finally starting to install some defensive structure to the Sabres structure, which helps the goalies a ton when they know what to expect in front of them.

Maybe. The PK has improved a touch recently, which may be in part due to them adding in young legs (Quinn, Peterka) and rotating more forwards into the PK to keep them fresher.

I looked like the Sabres were content to let the Avs have the puck on the perimeter. Old Boston Bruins strategy with Claude Julien. Let them shoot from the outside, take away everything in the middle. Let the goalie make a ton of easy saves.

Agreed, they basically let the Avs have the puck and shoot at will. But they kept the shots for the most part in the third to the outside and above the circles. They also did a good job of cleaning up the rebounds so there weren’t second chances.

Still needs some work obviously, but it was the first time all season they did anything like that (as far as I can remember).

It's a pretty good strategy when your goalie is nine feet tall

Does anyone thing Krebs revelation is him admitting to himself what he probably is best suited-for at the NHL level? If you look at his Junior career, he was a scorer. He put up points in bunches. The expectation then, as a high-pick is to continue that trend. It seems someone has gotten into his head (maybe it was himself) and convinced him he could have a long career by being tenacious, fast, and skilled only when the opportunity presents itself. I love this new Krebs and I hope he's a staple in the line-up for time to come!

Systematically working in Peterka, then Quinn, then Krebs is IMO as impressive as anything the coaching staff gets credit for so far.

Peterka and Quinn obvious keepers moving forward.

Krebs? ... Truth be told, yesterday was the first time to me anyway, that he skated like an NHLer.

Which I suppose is a good sign

That opening sequence with Fitz putting one off his boot right into UPL had me worried it was going to be one of those nights where every goal against is off of a Sabre player. Nope. Everyone put in a great effort.

Thats a conservative estimate on each players absolut minimum. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that all of them would hit their bare minimum at the same time. I think Dahlins number was chosen as an example of what his total would be if he scored at his career average for the remaining games.
Those would be close to career averages for the remainder, which would mean they would be stepping back on development

exactly, thats why is't a conservative take. One of them will likely regress a little after a hot start, but not all of them.
