Playing OT through both ther quarters and now the semi's...it makes me wonder how it affects the Czechs. Will the be drained? Or are the coming in on a high?
It probably won't matter...what the team does....Vokoun is the best 'tender in the tourney...(so far)

I picked the Czech Republic to win at the start of the tournament, and see no reason to change that prediction now. This was the final I expected and I'll guess the final score as 3-2.

Canada is great and everything, but I am just tired of this team, much more than I was tired of the Czechs in 2002. This has to stop, period! I'm not making any predictions, but if there is a Justice in this world, Canada will finish with the silver medal.

Ummm, its not like its NHL playoff hockey where playing OT can mean several exhausting hours. I doubt the extra 15 or so minutes in the last few days will make much of a difference. I don't think their games were much more emotionally taxing then the ones Canada played either. I think Canada will win, but just because they have what I consider to be a deeper team and more experience goalie, but its likely going to be a close game. However, if they Czechs do win, I'd hardly consider it an upset.

This should be one interesting hockey game (the last one for a helluva long time too...) :dunno:

I see a shoot-out coming, and after Nash, Heatley, and Gagne, we get a little thin on the sniper side. (Thornton is awesome, but he's no Pavel Bure)

I think the dang Czechs are gonna win the game 4-3.

I hope I'm wrong!

GO CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thornton is definitely no Pavel Bure. He does not have the electrifying moves that stun goalies. But Joe is one of the best when it comes to one on one with the goalies. I cannot recall many instances where Joe has been stopped on a breakaway or a 1 on 1 with a goalie. If there is a shootout, I would expect nothing other than a goal for Big Joe.

thornton really shines when the puck is behind the net - with nash blocking stuff happens - they are so big nobody can knock them off the puck - if they can get down low they will reek havoc -
always loved slagr too

When Thornton shoots, he can be pretty accurate. Problem is, he doesn't shoot much.

LETS GET ANOTHER GOLD!

:yo: :yo: :yo: :yo: :yo:

I'm not sure how good Nash or Gagne are on the breakaway, but Thornton can't be far behind. He's one of the best, and definately around as good if not better than Heatley, so I don't understand where that Bure remark came from..

I picked Canada to win it all at the start of the tournament, with the Czechs second. I'll stick by that prediction, although not with supreme confidence. I'm concerned that Canada's collapse is a reflection of endurance/a season off catching up to them, although the same could be the said of Canada's performance in the second round robin.

These are the keys to the game:
*Brodeur vs. Vokoun. Two best goalies in the tournament, not just for performance in the Worlds, but in overall calibre. In a best-of-one, I like Brodeur more, even though he's had a couple iffy games.
*Jagr vs. the Grind Line. The Grind Line has consistently suffocated their opponents. They'll need to do that to Jagr for Canada to have a chance.
*Czech defence vs. Canada's forward strength. The Russians couldn't contain the size and strength of Canada's big forwards - Heatley, Thornton, Doan and Nash among them. The Czechs defence is much better than the powderpuffs that Russia threw out.

This is Canada's third straight game against a team with a high-powered offence. They won the last two games by a goal, and the Czechs have a much better blue-line and goalie than Russia or Slovakia. I'll hesitantly pick Canada, to be consistent and because I think Brodeur and the Grind Line will have their best performances of the tourney. 3-2 Canada.

jagr's gonna have a headache thats for sure - he was ripping it up till he got wacked - that must've really hurt -

I think you'll get your wish tomorrow and I will be sad for a few minutes.

I agree. I'm tired to see them win even when they don't deserve it at all. Anyways, I never want them to win, it's not gonna change today.

Thornton is the most dominant player in the tournament, and Nash is the biggest sniper and Gagne is scoring along with Heatley...Canada will win.

I'm worried...Canada will probably match Scott Hannan with 68...and I don't have much faith in Scott Hannan. I thnk the REAL guy Canada is matching against 68...is Brodeur. 68 was not shooting much yesterday(broken pinky)but he was looking very good until he got the puck in the head/neck?? I thnk if he's feeling better by gametime ...Scott Hannan will be the first to know.
Its a strange scenario...The Czechs have been the best defesive team in the tourney(not suprised)but I thnk there will be at least 3 goals/team on Sunday. The Czechs would love to get a crack at Martin Brodeur in a shootout
