Most of us think this had something to do with Mrazek, but it turns out Kyle was more concerned about the effect it would have on Jack Campbell... (Go to 39:30 where they discuss the potential trade)

Incredibly interesting that the reason for Kyle's outburst over this was his concern for Jack's mental state. That's a very revealing statement by Elliotte and definitely worthy of discussion. Especially, given Jack's mental state wasn't the consideration, to most of us, when we saw Kyle's strong negative reaction to the question on the potential deal.

Mrazek has been defended for not being affected by all this because he's a professional athlete who's been around. That goes even more for Jack but he's the one they were concerned about and that is concerning. You root so hard for a guy like Jack but you also have concerns based on his fragility.

Tough to argue against it being about Mrazek to the greater extent considering he was part of that trade proposal and later placed on waivers. Campbell has yet to return from the injured list and is also a pending UFA. Dubas had to explore any avenue possible in an attempt to improve the team prior to the trade deadline.

??? Of course it was because of Campbell. Fleury would have been our No. 1 instead of him. A pretty big vote of no confidence.

The only thing it has to do with is professionalism. You don't leak trades like that in the NHL, and it seems Chicago's GM needed a reminder of that.

The funny thing is, the biggest issue with it is exactly the kind of thing that's happening here - the Leaf media jumps on it, and then the fanbase jumps on it, and then we have a whole bunch of false speculation and conspiracy theories based on nothing, - all because Chicago's GM suggested a HF-level trade proposal and it got rejected.

It's the opposite. The truth wanted to stay hidden due to the ugliness that comes when it comes out. It is now out and Kyle did not want it out there because of this very reason. He didn't want this to affect his goalie who is a tremendous guy and extremely sensitive. So, yes, Dubas is very upset about the leak because it is TRUE. The truth always causes issues, but better that than to live in fantasy and lies. There is nothing more unprofessional than hiding the truth from someone and snowing them with warm and fuzzy fake words.

We're all different but I wish we got more of this. No one should advocate for truth being hidden.

Once upon a time, I was a sports radio producer. The levels teams go to information control are crazy. Threats over losing access if you ask the wrong questions. Many are used to sanitized versions of the truth but I think we should hear much more of it, no matter how hard it is to hear it.

Trade speculation is leaked all the time, just because Dubas’ feelings got hurt, it’s all of a sudden a big deal now? Give me a break

I don't think you have a grasp on what 'truth' means.
There is no 'truth' here just idle speculation.

A 4 sec grab of someone saying 'I think...' is not what anyone would classify as the 'truth'.

If they were worried about Campbell's mental state they would have never signed Mrazek in the first place. This is baloney. I listened to the link. There just blowing nonsense opinion filling their air time.
This is fantastic. You have a counter opinion and are passionate about it. Love hearing your divergent perspective on this.

Topics like this are great. You have people with all sorts of biases and perspectives who get to give their thoughts. Elliotte gave his. Elliotte has to be careful with what he says and was about the whole who initiated the trade and how far it got. He goes too far and he's cut off. There is a lot to how information works. Dubas didn't like how this one went because it's assumed each GM will cover up the truth for the other. Davidson didn't give Dubas the cover he wanted/expected, hence, his anger.

What are you even talking about? There is no "ugliness" for Dubas in this. Chicago proposed a bad trade proposal. Dubas declined. The end.

The only "ugliness" in this is Chicago's GM not understanding professionalism and how things work in the NHL and the business world. Embarrassing for him, not Dubas.

Any GM (or any person working for any business in any industry) would be upset if private negotiations were being leaked.

This is bigger than the Watergate scandal, be careful OP I think the big players in the goalie mental health industry are going to come after you. You should move to a safe location and get in contact with WikiLeaks to make sure your righteous truth isn't suppressed.

says who?
