2012 Sweden was dominant as a team. Most of those player are current NHL'ers, 7/13 forwards and 4/7 D are full time players, others have games too. Maybe not really big names other than Filip Forsberg. They outshot everyone they met clearly.

Finland 2016 by quality of gameplay, and maybe even by names :)

That is if you base the quality to "who scores the most goals win" -mentality. Yeah the Finns didn't leave anyone hoping in that sense. Otherwise, aside from the 'first' line which was perhaps one of the best if not the best in the history, the rest of the team left a lot of hoping for. In the end, the winners are remembered and it was a memorable tournament no doubt about it.

Brayden Schenn scored more in 2011, than anybody in 2016, but I doubt people nowadays consider him as a big name...

2011 Russia was really entertaining. Great comebacks in quarters, semis and in the final.

Plenty of talent on that team also:

Kuznetsov
Tarasenko
Panarin
Orlov
Kalinin
Zaitsev
Burdasov

Sobchenko and Urychev were talented guys that died in Yaroslavl's plane crash.

Of course, if only Russian team had new Tarasenko - Kuznetsov - Panarin... Schenn wasn't lucky enough, and Finns were.

or the flipside of that argument, your boys were lucky that Hall Duchene Seguin were busy with their NHL teams....otherwise...

And in the time period you are referencing, 2007-16. Team Canada 2015 edition was the best team, names and quality of play. I believe close to if not half the team are already NHL players or have played NHL games. So, it would be them.

2008 Team Canada.

Claude Girouux
Brad Marchand
Shawn Matthias
John Tavares
Wayne Simmonds
Steven Stamkos
Brandon Sutter
Kyle Turris

Drew Doughty
PK Subban
Karl Alzner
Luke Schenn

Steve Mason
Jonathan Bernier

"overaged" i mean allready drafted players, rarely are big names ;)
taking anything away from Schenn ofc.

The 2008 Canadian team had the best talent in terms of names, no question. In terms of performance, it's very difficult to say. There isn't really a dominant team in that span. 2015 Canada is the only team that didn't lose and didn't need overtime, so probably them.

I don't know. of course I loved the '07-09 Gold Medals, but 2015 was almost as dominant as the '05 team. of course not as stacked, but close. if we could time warp the 2015 Team back to 2005 and add Mackinnon + others, I'd love to see those 2 teams go at it. It would be epic.

The 2005 team would never have needed to hold on for a period against the Russian team like the 2015 team did. If you're talking about giving everyone all of their eligible players, then I would guess that 2010 Canada has the best chance against 2005.

Yes, but they wouldn't be playing Russia...I'd imagine Canada 2015 would be a better team than 2005 Russia. They wouldn't lose by a score of 6-1.

refresh my memory, who was missing from the 2010 team? Tavares...and?

Finland was leading Sweden at the last minute.

The 2010 team was missing Tavares, Stamkos (NHL goal leader), Duchene, Kane, O'Reilly, Myers and Del Zotto.

damn. you may be right. In that case we can time warp the 2010 along with the 2015 back to 2005 to play the 2005 team in a tournament for the ages.
