Previous thread was here: http://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/the-best-goalscorers-in-the-nhl.2011183/ and all the tables there were gone because of forum moving.
I decided to refresh my table - I excluded seasons before 67-68 (due to critique) and add 2016-2017 season.
Algorithm:
Ratio between the average number of goals per game of the best goal-scorer of the corresponding season and the average number of goals per game of the next players, scored 80% of goals of the season. To make the result more demonstrative, I multiplied the result by 100.
Table show us how dominative the best goal-scorer of a particular season was.

I've always felt that looking at dominance over peers in a single season can largely be based on luck/timing and is not truly indicative of domination.

ie - the year Hull scored 86 goals everyone else kinda scored quite a bit less, so it makes him look great. But it doesn't necessarily mean that 86 goals in 90-91 is as impressive as the gap between him and the rest of the pack makes it seem - because it was possible to score so much in the NHL those years. Since Lemieux 2 years prior had 85 himself.

so I think goal totals (and point totals) need to be compared against a 3 year average maybe to be more indicative.
