I'm looking for some suggestions from people about Giants tickets. Me and some friends are coming down for a bachelor party the weekend of the 19th-21st of October. The Giants are playing the Redskins, so I know it won't be easy to just get tickets seeing as how it is the defending champs and they are playing their biggest rival.

I assume some people here have been to games and tried through scalpers/stubhub/ebay etc. I don't mind paying a few hundred, but some of the prices for a few grand are outrageous. We aren't too picky about where we sit, as long as we can get in.

Any suggestions/tips?

The Giants/Redskins game should not be that hard of a ticket to get.You should expect to pay about $25-$50 above face for decent tickets. The Redskins have not been as hot as the Eagles,Cowboys plus they play the Saints and Packers at home I believe. As far as tips I would try stubhub.

pm sent. i have giants seasons and I am selling that game.

im not too familiar with the neighborhoods but i would guess: chelsea, midtown, west village, greenwich...anything around those areas. I would mind making the extra trip in order to go to a really great bar

There are so many ways you can go with this. If you wanna keep it casual, anything below 14th st is the best bet (around NYU and LES). If you're looking for a club, try the meatpacking district.

In prior years I would have suggested the east village / lower east side but it seems all the good dive bars down that way are gone. That area used to be a madhouse.

Anyone else running the NYC marathon this year? It's on November 4th, which coincides with a home game against the Flyers at 7pm. I've ran a few half marathons, but never a full. My target is to complete it within 6 hours. If I start at 10, that means I'll reach the tape by 4pm, but the real question is whether I'll be too incapacitated to attend the game.....

The real question is if Messier is running again

My wife is running. I already sold my Giants-Steelers tickets and offering the Rangers-Flyers tickets to one of my regulars. It is her first marathon. She ran a half this spring and based on how she felt afterwards, she won't be up for the game after a full.

Hi guys,

Has anybody ever attended the David Letterman show? Last time I was in New York in late December, he wasn't doing shows.
Does anybody know how hard it is to get tickets? I know you can sign up 3 months in advance, however have heard that it's possible to line up on the day. Does anybody know how long you'd have to line up in advance?

Also regarding the Giants vs Saints game, when would be the best time to purchase tickets? Anybody looking to sell some to another dirty Aussie for a good price?

Cheers guys!

No idea on Letterman. I don't have any available for the Giants-Saints game. Your best bet is Stubhub.

I try again;

A quick New York question...

What has happened to the Planet Holywood restuarant ? It was closed when I was there a month ago...

Closed down? Renovation?

I was in NY in June on business and passed by 9 in morning and there was a considerable amount of people camped out there. I can't honestly answer your question other than to say it looks like 3-4 am is a good starting point if tickets are on a first come first serve basis.

Edit: Forget my answer I had no idea about the process it takes to get tickets. Sorry, I saw all of those people and thought they were waiting to buy tickets. .

Cheers Miamipuck and PatNYRNYG.
I'll be there, first thing in the morning freezing in possibly snow waiting in line.

Some people I'm going with are big on the thrift shopping. Any well kept secrets in New York for finding some quality seconds? I'd think somewhere in Manhattan?

Thanks again.

Hey guys, I need an important question answered and figured I could get some help here.

Back in May, I visited your lovely city for a week. My Canadian ways led me to drink a beer in public, and evidently, I got caught by NYPD and was issued an open container ticket. I know, not too smart.

Anyhow, I was told by the officers that all I had to do was mail a money order ($25) and I was good. I then enjoyed my stay in New York. Fast forward to now, and I remember about this. I completely forgot to pay the fine and I have a court appearance scheduled on July 25th. Evidently, I cannot make it there. I'd love to pay the fine, but apparently I only had 10 days after the incident to do that (plead guilty).

The thing is, I did not have any ID on me and the officer wrote the address of my youth hostel on the summons. The youth hostel does not have my real address as I am not the one who booked the hostel. They have my name and DOB, but that's all.

I'm just weighting my options right now. Do I still try to pay it via mail and hope that they accept the (extremely) late guilt plea/fine payment? Do I let it go, hoping they're gonna dismiss the case since they literally have no way to contact me/find me? Or is there something else I can do?

Thanks a lot to those who can help!

How did they even contact you? Did the hotel mail it to you?

I'm no lawyer, but I wouldn't show up. Just try mailing in the money order but for $50 since it's probably going to get raised to around there anyway.

They didn't contact me after I was given the summons. They couldn't, since they don't have an address to reach me apart from the hostel where I stayed and the hostel has no info on me. The NYPD literally only have my name and date of birth. I went and checked the webcrims website and my case is on there, but as I said, they only have my name and DOB. Never mind the fact that I could have given them completely bogus info since I didn't show any ID, I just don't think they can retrace me since they don't even know which nationality I am (I told the officers I was Canadian but it's not written anywhere).

At this point, thing is, if I send them the money order, I give them all the info they need and if they reject it, I'll have a bench warrant waiting for me the next time I get into the States. If I don't send them anything, I run the risk of having a warrant as well, however I could also slip through the cracks since they cannot locate me and have literally nothing on me. I also have dual citizenship and could travel with my second passport which has another last name on it (complicated but completely legit stuff).

I'm fully willing to pay the fine if they let me, I just want to avoid warrants. I'm definitely, 100% not taking a day off next Wednesday to appear in court in NYC lol. Getting a lawyer to appear for me for an open container summons is a no-no as well. Just wanted to see if any of you guys had prior experience with stuff like this. Thanks a lot kaneone!
