Not so much Zelda as much as more DMC'ish with some elements kept in that allow you to slow time down and choose what you want to do. The remake is very, very much an action RPG.

Chrono Trigger desperately needs a remaster.
They need to remaster the PSX version, it Had those awesome fully animated cutscenes in the DBZ style

So it’s gonna have a FF XV or FF XII type battle system? Loved XII, especially Zodiac Age. As per FF XV, wasn’t a bad game but felt the side quest overtook the game a lot from the main story line and really felt empty even with so much to do, if that makes sense.

Also, Would die for a CT re-make with current graphics and whatnot.

If its possible, think of something between XV and XII. XV was a straight button masher, which this is not. XII is a bit more turn based compared to VII-R. It (VII-R) employs an action RPG style game play while incorporating in the ATB from the original to give you something that you could call a strategic-action RPG. :dunno:

Also note that each character has a specific strength. For instance, Barret is the guy you want to use when you're going up against enemies that are flying/ranged. Switching between characters is seamless (at least it was in the demo) so there are strategic measures to take beyond ATB (being able to set commands for other party members while you aren't controlling them is an awesome feature too.)

It's going to make for some really, really interesting and fun boss fights. Nothing through Midgar (aside from the Shinra Building, which I cannot WAIT to see) is particularly mind blowing, but the next games in the series are going to have some straight up ridiculousness.

I wonder how they're going to handle the rest of the game though. The Midgar sequence in the original was also linear AF so no issues following the same format with the first installment. Your open world options are semi limited up until Cloud... ahem... becomes unavailable for a bit. After that it opens up and thats going to be tougher to capture here.

Side note: They are going to DLC the absolute f*** out of the Gold Saucer and I will be there for it.

That’s similar to FF X, where each character had their strengths against certain enemies, like magic foes, flyers, High evasion, or armored.

It is but now imagine that, but in a more action setting PLUS the ability to command your other characters with out taking control of them (or taking control of them if you wish.)

Now I've only played the demo and the turn based purists will hate the changes made, but I thought the battle system was amazing and there is so much potential for it to be even better.

if anyone tryna battle in pokemon showdown i'm bored so battle me

wait FF7 remake isnt turn based? the heck? is it like...zelda now or something?

i've never played ff7 but that actually sounds interesting. love jrpgs but IMO action rpg is the better genre, unless the game is chrono trigger.

That seems similar to FF XII with the Gambit system. Which I liked because you could choose to manual make commands or set them automatically in priority. I actually liked that system.

FF7: R is similar to XV but not as frenetic, I feel it has a more deliberate pace, and plays closer to Kingdom Hearts.
This is the first game that came to mind when I saw that combat.

Anyways, just like the RE remakes, if you don’t dig the changes, play the originals. They are still 10/10 games.

EA Sports NHL20 sucks!

Semi-pro mode is too easy, not really fun winning 10-2. The next level up is totally impossible, losing 8-1 isn't fun either. Seems like my players are skating in quicksand and all going to one side of the ice, while the other team is skating rings around my players. Not to mention, the A button to switch players does not switch the player to the logical one to control.

I can't win a faceoff. Any defense I play gets called a penalty. Throw a hit, it's called a charge.

There has to be some middle ground where you can win a few and still be challenged.

I just hope there's some kind of training dummy/training room for FF7RM combat. I hated combat in FF15 and was wary about 7RM using the same system. The demo gave me hope right up until the Scorpion boss. That fight felt like complete chaos and then eventually the boss died.

The fights in the demo were way too short for me to actually get a feel of "Ok I get to this menu by doing this, this menu contains this and this, these situations are when I would use this menu", or felt entirely too frantic for me to feel comfortable to mess around with menus mid-fight.

I think it is pretty chaotic because it is still so simple in nature. You have two characters, no choice of materia, etc. This combat will become extremely complex as the game progresses, unlike XV.

It gets easier with time. I found the difference between semi-pro and pro to be surprisingly small, so if you're regularly winning 10-2 at semi-pro you should get a hang of pro soon enough. I started playing EA's NHL games recently after a 15 year hiatus, and at first I struggled with semi-pro but now in nhl20 I win more often on all-star than not.

Not sure I can offer much advice as I'm still quite new at it. I've found that I really have to focus on timing on faceoffs, if I'm tired or distracted I never win any. On defence I try not to chase the puck too much, but rather funnel AI to the outside and try to make sure they don't get any onetimers from the slot. I use the defensive stick a lot for this but it can lead to tripping penalties if I'm not careful. Same with pokechecking, you have to be really opportunistic as it can be a great tool or a guaranteed 2 minutes, but it does take some time to get the timing right.

It. Is. Here.

They shipped a lot of units early to ensure it would arrive by 4/10. SE made a post acknowledging that some will get their game before release day and to please not post spoilers.

Not to mention due to the sheer size of the 1st class edition I think those went out a little bit earlier. It really is huge.

Did you order directly through SE?

Did you order directly through SE?
Yes. I think that is the only place 1st class editions were available.

I kind of made a mistake though. I didn't realize that the 1st class edition came with a deluxe edition in a separate box. I have no intentions of opening my 1st class edition anytime soon and am likely going to keep it as a collectible.

So I pre-ordered a digital version yesterday (having forgot I also pre-ordered it at gamestop forever ago) and then had to go through returning it.
