Excuse my ignorance, but how? They lost their top scorer and got a good defensive player back. Who is going to score their goals?
Byram will be converted to a 50 goal 100 point shutdown D from inhaling 10000% THC extracted from cannabis plants previously only known to prehistoric Sabres...

Yeah this seems super odd from Buffalos standpoint. I don't see why you deal for Byram if you already have Power and Dahlin. All three of those guys are lefties too. Maybe one of their guys is going to be dealt. Adding more young dmen also seems like a weird choice overall. If anything I feel like that team could really use a good top 4 vet.
One of Power, Dahlin to Detroit :D

Really risky move for Buffalo. Byram is one head injury away from retirement and Mittelstadt is just way more impactful out there. Buffalo takes a step back in this one

yeah that Buffalo move is just weird

maybe Mittelstadt wants out and they're trading him while he's still an RFA and has value or something

Detroit to DC to Chicago
Reinhart trade has indicated that Mittelstadt could perform better out of Buffalo. Nichuskin and even Drouin to an extent moves also suggest that Mittelstadt could perform better in Colorado.

Really like Byram as a player, health is a concern though. Not sure Buffalo is the best landing point for him.

So Buffalo is now Dahlin, Power, Byram, R. Johnson, E. Johnson, and Jokiharju as former 1st round picks on defense.

thought maybe we'd have a busy deadline day for once with how quiet it's been but I guess everyone decided to get everything done on Wednesday instead

I couldn’t care less about either of those prospects and based on the 90% chance we make the playoffs I don’t think we should be moving anything just to make the playoffs. If we can get someone that isn’t a rental that can be a part of the rebuild for 5+ years at a good cap hit? Absolutely do it.
So the main reason you do not want to part ways with lesser assets is because you think we are basically guaranteed a playoff spot? Coulda said that earlier. So if you're at 90% and I'm at 65%, why not get an upgrade for a 2nd to get it up to 95%/70%?

two Johnsons, a Power, Byram which sounds vaguely like a slang term in and of itself, and Jokiharju which while I know deep down that probably isn't actually true you'll never convince me isn't Finnish for "penis"

Yzerman will wait and wait and wait.

All contenders will fill their cap with secondary options, because the ask for Buchnevich is too high.

Then on final minute, he'll make the only offer and will get him as a bargain.

This is pretty much how I feel about it too.

I'm more of the desperado timing but to each to own

Last one for today. But we have to establish that this is a forum where men of culture meet.

Wings are in a position we don't need to force a trade. Yzerman is playing chicken with GM's with the deadline looming I'm sure lol.
I know guentzel wasn't on the list (or so they say) for yzerman, but with edmonton making a pretty big trade, can they actually fit guentzel now? The suitors for guentzel are going smaller and smaller by the hour it seems.

buchnevich and parayko are still out there.

hartman too!

Hoping Steve is working today n something unexpected and useful such as a trade for a young center or something like that. I didn't want any of those players traded today.

I can see Yzerman being patient, sticking to his prices he likes and letting someone give in as the buyers dwindle and cap space becomes hard to find around the league. Or he's going to make a trade at like 3am and make it a block buster. It's fun having Yzerman as GM, you never know what you're going to get.

yeah that's true, even when I don't like the moves it's never boring

there's something to be said for that in an entertainment product
