Because Mac,, in the 90s when skating requirements were much lower, could keep up. In the modern NHL a 24yo Mac would be no different than Kostin. And Kostin in the 90s, would be a significantly more effective player than he his currently in 2024 because his footspeed wouldn't be holding him back. Kostin and McCarty are the same. The eras and skating need in those eras are different.

Are you really posting a goal where he didn't even take a single step as proof that he can skate? Not a single step when he made that move. Nobody here is arguing that Kostin won't go to the hard areas, we know he likes to run over goalies for no reason.

Head to head, McCarty is a better skater by a wide margin. Has nothing to do with era.

Calling up Burger to replace Kostin will be an improvement. That's about it.

I predicted before the Avs game that Kostin would get bought out if he didn't perform, Stevie surprised me by getting a 7th for him. So that's a win.
