A rough few games for Joker everyone can see these two guys are a major problem. The interesting thing is their metrics are just awful and we still won.

Feels like if you can replace these two we might have something.

Well Sammy will come back someday. Maybe someone from Rochester to LD. But for top 4 RD we need to trade.

The only big hole we have is Quinn, who can fill that hole himself. Could we use another D, sure. Power Byram and Dahlin are elite offensively.

Cozens is rounding back into form. Not so worried about 2C anymore either.

If this team wants to go to the next level we really need a top 4D paired with Power.

Maybe thats Samuelsson but when he is not injured he has good and bad games.

You can see by the metrics used here that his play is up and down.

Sammy isn't there yet, plus Ruff kind of hinted that he needs a righty. There's not a team in the NHL where all your top 4 D's are lefties, probably for a reason.

If he'd waivers his ntc, what about Trouba? And how cheap could he be to acquire?
It's an interesting dilemma actually. For the most part, he seems to have had more decent games than bad ones. But he's had some terrible games (if you're just looking at the metrics, because I don't watch Rangers games).

I think he won't be expensive and Rangers will still keep some of his salary. We could also send Jokiharju the other way.

I'm just wondering if he could be a second Zucker for us on defense. He knows Ruff, he's experienced, he's physical, and he probably has some leadership skills.

RDs market is very limited, especially right now. A lot of the good RDs have MNTC and some just won't be traded because teams are in the playoff race and they need those players themselves. Then you have to look at teams that aren't going to make the playoffs or need a shakeup. I wouldn't mind trying to get guys like Whitecloud or Spence, but I'm not sure they'll be available right now. Maybe Jensen or Zub (if Ottawa shakes things up). But I wouldn’t rule out the option with Trouba.

my problem with Bryson is that any team that's physical will bull rush him down and knock him off the puck easy. At least with Jokiharju he's less noticeable in a good way more often than not.

A trade around Joker could be seen as beneficial for the Rags as well; much lower cap hit, UFA at the end of this year, fills a hole that would be opened by Trouba's departure. I really think the cap gives them flexibility for the deadline and the following year.

I also agree that, while his play has had some ROUGH patches (years), the veteran presence on the back end can't be ignored. I think he would really help all of our young defenders grow and mature... so how do we talk him into coming here, other than continuing to win?

No, well they'll have to eat up some of Trouba's salary. I just don't know what his value will be and no one will take that contract without retain.

Lets go after Keserling from Utah. A young defense first R handed d-man that doesn't make crazy money and doesn't have a NMC. We have way more than enough assets to go and get this guy and can even over pay a little if we have to.

I agree, but the problem is that Utah has both Durzi and Marino injured and they won't be back anytime soon. I think they can don't trade Kesselring right now because of that.

What's Barry Trotz doing there? Tomasino for 4th 2027?

giphy.gif

First they waive Tolvanen before that, then they traded Askarov, waive Fabbro is playing on Columbus' first pair and seems to be doing well. Now Tomasino is almost free, something is definitely wrong with them. Maybe they'll give us ROR for the 4th? :sarcasm:

Nashville is a great match for trading with Buffalo. Unfortunately Nashville signed a bunch of older free agents and I think they would rather try to plug holes in the sinking ship then send a message they are waving the white flag.

Baker Fairburn kicking the tires today on a Trouba/Keider trade. Both have movement language in their deals, and being a conference foe, not sure either team does it.
