Which is how it should've been anyway. To win in today's NHL you need to be getting big time contributions from ELC-2nd contract guys because you'll likely have key veterans making big dollars.

Kakko, Fox, Kravy, Shesty all on ELCs.

Panarin, Kreider, Mika, Trouba all making big bucks.


After signing Panarin and Trouba, it always needed to be the next 2-3 years as the goal to contend, not 5-6 like some wanted. Today's league is getting younger and yonuger so it makes sense rebuilds could take less time.

Agreed. Strome and Skjei are more attractive, and now that we added a 6.5 cap hit they might be listening more on ADA too.
