Will be an interesting day. I'd expect a bunch of pots and pans deals to start scurrying through earlier in the day.

Some surprises will be:

What ANA gets for Derek Grant.
NJ haul for Sami Vatenen.
BUF sell-off ends up being below market value.

In Ranger news my hopes are for the following:

Kreider, Fast and McKegg are all moved out.

Incoming picks are a 1st, 2nd, conditional 3rd, and a 6th.
Incoming prospects/players are: 20-23 year old forward who can step in now with top 9 upside, a B+ prospect, and a 20-24 year old year old 4th line asset.

Ideally you get the following:

Kreider to COL for Kaut, Bowers, 1st, and a conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if COL makes the finals, and a 1st next year if they re-sign Kreider. This only happens if there is a bidding war for Chris.

Fast to Philly for Twarynski and a 2nd.

McKegg to EDM for a 6th.

If the Rangers go .660 the rest of the way, they can make the playoffs. I would prefer a lottery pick this year, but with Shesterkin, you can't discount the possibility.

But again your premise is that “one year the Rangers will have an easier path” and “these guys are not ready to defeat the best.” In order for me to buy into this I’d Have to believe that trading Kreider and Fast would somehow fix these variables in the future and that’s an unknown. I’d also have to know that I’d be getting better assets than what both of these two, or Strome if you include him, would be. If the Rangers got a first for Kreider and he turned into Kreider, wouldn’t we all be thrilled?? As the recent drafts have shown, first rounders are a real crap shoot so it’s clear to me- stay with these current guys.
IMO, this is the most well articulated post regarding this deadline that I have read. Nice work, JHS.

Kreider had multiple opportunities to be a difference maker in the playoffs for us and imo outside of his 2nd year here he wasnt. So are we really claiming he is a playoff player? I hope everyone else believes that but I don't. He has shown his true motivation over the last 2 months by playing the way EVERYONE here knew he could because he wanted that fat long term contract. Anyone paying him as a 60 point player is dealing in fools gold. It's time to move on before we get caught in the same trap laid by Staal and Girardi, a contract too long that's being paid out of past performance instead of future projection.

Sell Kreider, sell Strome or Fast for the right deal, sell Hank or Staal/Smith if we're not getting bent over in the trade. Keep everyone else

My predictions:

Kreider to Dallas for Robertson, 2020 2nd(conditional 1st if Dallas makes the WCF), 2021 2and

Fast to Philly for 2020 2and

Rykov to LA for an AHL forward

One of this draft's 7th rounders is dealt for an AAAA player to help Hartford's playoff push

Shestyorkin is sent down to Hartford in a paper transaction so he's eligible for AHL playoffs and a few people here freak out. The same happens with DiGuiseppe and perhaps Chytil.

Seriously at this point why does Hank wanna stay? It doesn’t look like Georgiev is being traded at all. Hank isn’t gonna suddenly start playing more down the stretch or even next year and no way is retiring.

Sportsnet just showed a commercial about coming close to winning the Cup and they showed Hank. and I nearly cried.

I really hope they find somewhere for him.
