Montreal
I had my dream come true this weekend seeing my first bruins game at the garden. I was amazed at the beautiful city and how nice the people are in boston. You guys really know how to make people feel welcome. People saying hi just about every place i went. Thanks to the people of hf boards to for directing new people in the right places to visit like mikes pastry.
Partying downtown near the garden was amazing and i enjoyed every minute.
Again thank you from a die hard bruins fan from Montreal.
Go bruins go!!

Bienvenue

Very happy to hear you had an enjoyable time.

Those of us who live here sometimes forget that Boston has become a place that people come for a weekend or vacation. The TV show Cheers was a big part of that as I found out when I lived and worked in Chicago.

Glad you had a good time.

I grew up in Boston (Cambridge, actually) and have traveled extensively. I still marvel at the beauty of this city. And, it's getting better all the time with new developments and investments (can't say the the same about our transit system, unfortunately).

I'm surprised, however, at the number of visitors who call Bostonians warm and welcoming. Perhaps things have changed over the years and a new culture I'm not aware of has developed. Anyway, glad to see we're perceived in that way.

I'm not happy about all of the luxury development going on, but I'll leave that for another day. Glad a Montrealer enjoyed their stay. :handclap: Come back and visit anytime!

Boston has changed immensely over the past 20 years. It used to be a city of "sports, politics, and revenge." Though still proudly parochial, it's far less tribal than in the past. It's also much more diverse, and therefore, I think, more welcoming.

Though I wasn't born here, I love everything about this old town and it will always be my home.

You didn't happen to wear a Habs jersey and sit in section 321, row 4 or 5, didja? Brave if it was you, but we're really not that treacherous and evil. It kind of made me wonder which team a Habs fan wants to win when it's Leafs vs. Bruins....but I think I know the answer.

Glad you enjoyed our city...definitely hope to visit the Centre Bell some day. I actually had some Mike's at their satellite location by Harvard yesterday...so much for New Year's....

Well, he did say he was a die hard Bruins fan, so I'm guessing not.

Short anecdote: I've lived all over the country. From Virginia to California, but will always call Mass home. We (and the Northeast in general) get a bad rap in some parts of the country, mostly as being hostile or thick-skinned. But I had a very interesting conversation after a few beers in Texas one night, when a non-Bostonian pointed out that even though we're a little hostile on the surface, it's a defense mechanism. New Englanders are some of the most trustworthy, loyal people you'll ever meet. They're not shallow like certain corners of the country (*cough* southern hospitality is fake *cough*).

Anyway. Glad you had a great time, Mon'Ami.
